Subject: Did Jesus die spiritually? |
Bible Note: Greetings Searcher! You wrote: "'Follow Me; and allow the dead to bury their own dead' (Matt 8:22) ... I doubt He is talking about the physically dead." I have an old book on oriental customs and culture which makes an interesting observation about this particular verse. It turns out that 'claiming one had to bury their father' was a very common excuse used by orientals to politely get out of doing something which they did not really want to do. So, Jesus response was probably a rebuke of his excuse. Chat with you later my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
