Bible Note: Greetings Pcdarcan! I'm not going to bite on the insulting comments! :-) I was familiar with the 2 Cor. 4:4, but I assumed that 'Satan' was actually mentioned since you claimed that the verse said, "Satan is the god of this world". That was my fault! I free confess it. However, your insults don't address my point. Satan is not mentioned in 2 Cor. 4:4. You are 'assuming' that is who is meant. Assumptions are not fact! In Isaiah, I am not 'assuming' what Jehovah said. I am simply 'quoting' it! ;-) If you would like to discuss the meaning of 2 Cor. 4:4, we could do that on another thread! :-) As far as your point about 'G' or 'g' is concerned. I have no problem with translating 'elohim' as 'God' when it clearly refers to Jehovah, and 'elohim' as 'god' when it clearly refers to anything or anyone other than Jehovah. My point has simply been that this is an English practice, not a Greek or Hebrew one. Therefore, one cannot take the verses that I have been citing from Isaiah and base one's interpretation upon 'G' or 'g'. The choice of 'G' or 'g' is itself an interpretation. My contention is that this practice does not have any bearing on the meaning of the verses. Jehovah plainly says, 'There are no other elohim besides Me'. You can accept it or reject it, but don't try to present me as 'twisting' His words. I have simply quoted them my friend! :-) I am 'wrong' for quoting Jehovah, but you are 'right' for inserting the word 'Satan' in a passage where it is not used! :-( Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
