Bible Question:
I am only responding to this thread because of the wonderful list of scriptures you have quoted. I think the only way to prevent Tara from posting is to NOT respond to her post. However, I will like to digress and study the scripture so that it feeds my soul. When I read these scriptures, that you have posted, I understand that Jehovah is the only God. It does say that the Devil is the god of this world. (2 Cor. 4: 4; Jn. 12: 31) But that is only because people have fallen prey to worshipping him. Like mentioning in the other posts many things are gods (money, people). They are gods because they are worshipped. They are gods because they or it has influenced people not to follow the only true God's commandments. In other words, instead of following God's commandments, they choose otherwise. If you want to know and follow the only true God ..then you must follow Jehovah..He can strenghten you. No other gods can make your stronger. Money will not make you stronger. The devil will not make you stronger. for he says: Is. 45:5 - "I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God...I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me," This my interpretation..Have I interpreted it correctly? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Noveta! Thank you for your response my sister! I was beginning to believe that no one could read plain English! :-) You are absolutely correct. If I could couch your response in more precise language, I would say: There are many things that are called 'gods' by people, but they are not by nature 'gods'. Jehovah Himself says that there is only one God! In one of my posts, I quoted Isaiah's wonderful passage about a man taking a piece of wood, using part of it to cook his food and making a 'god' out of the rest. You should read the entire passage. It is quite entertaining. The point is that simply calling something a 'god' doesn't make it so! :-) Keep up your excellent study of the Word and we will continue to hold you and your husband up in prayer. Perhaps, if you take him to the verses I listed in Isaiah, his eyes will begin to be opened to the truth. I think it would be much easier to share these verses with cultists in person, since they simply couldn't ignore them like they do on this forum. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
