AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that all of you spoke in unknown tongues, but even more [I wish] that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater [and more useful] than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he translates or explains [what he says], so that the church may be edified [instructed, improved, strengthened]. |
Subject: IS TONGUES FOR TODAY? |
Bible Note: HamsteRulz The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity please don't speak of Him as an it. Secondly your concept of receiving the Holy Spirit is a little off base. First upon salvation everyone receives the Holy Spirit, Salvation is based on the belief in Jesus Christ and nothing else. Jesus promised that upon accepting Him into our hearts we would receive the comforter. As for speaking in tongues many people believe it is initial evidence of being filled or baptized in the Holy Spirit. I personally see it more as a yielding of our will to the will of the Holy Spirit. However speaking in tongues has no effect upon a person’s salvation, that is based solely on the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. EdB |
