AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that all of you spoke in unknown tongues, but even more [I wish] that you would prophesy. Subject: IS TONGUES FOR TODAY? |
Bible Note: Greetings Aspilos, I can agree with you according to your definition of "evidence". However, following your advice, I see a different meaning when I look up the words in question in a dictionary. ev·i·dence : A thing or things helpful in forming a conclusion or judgment. sign: Something that suggests the presence or existence of a fact, condition, or quality. re·sult: To come about as a consequence. I think any of the above dictionary definitions would fit very well with what the Jewish believers concluded in Acts 10:45-47. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,"Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"
