AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:5 Now I wish that all of you spoke in unknown tongues, but even more [I wish] that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater [and more useful] than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he translates or explains [what he says], so that the church may be edified [instructed, improved, strengthened]. |
Subject: IS TONGUES FOR TODAY? |
Bible Note: HamsteRulz Your right you must repent. As for the Holy Spirit he comes to us when we are saved. He is complete and whole. He fills every believer. It is not a partial filling but complete in every way. However there may or may not be a manifestation. If the person receiving the Holy Spirit does not yield his will completely to the Holy Spirit there will be not manifestation. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and does not force Himself upon us. However whether there are manifestations or not the person is still saved. Your not wrong in what your saying, however you are taking text and assembling it to say what you want it to say. We are to repent, we are to receive the Holy Spirit, we are to believe in Jesus all these things are essential. However no where does it say we must speak in tongues. You make that assumption and it simply is not a valid assumption to make. There are many examples where "believers" did not initially and/or ever speak in tongues. I was saved for many many years before I spoke in tongues. Are you going to tell me I wasn't? Secondly your Oneness Pentecostal. A fine group of people but they do follow man made rules and ideas. The claim is they are all Biblical and they are, however you pick and chose which ones to follow. Case in point do you have tassels at the corner of your coats. If not why not? That requirement is a few verses after the verse that you says prevents women from wearing slacks Deut 22:5,12. or have they changed that rule by now. At one time your men weren't allowed to wear wedding rings now I think they can and also watches. Tsk tsk what is the world coming too? Sorry about the sarcasm I could not resist. The “Trinity” exists whether you want to accept it or not. It is a fact. Let me ask you a question who did Jesus pray to? Who did Jesus speak out to at Lazarus' tomb? When Jesus was being Baptized did we not see Jesus, hear God's voice from Heaven and see the Holy Spirit ascend upon Jesus as a Dove (not a dove but as a dove)? To argue onesness is nonsense Jesus would had to been a grammatically wrong to teach his disciples to pray the Lord's prayer using the words Our heavenly Father, yet we know He was perfect. EdB |
