Bible Question:
NC, You even took Deuteronomy 5:24 out of context ... Verse 25 says "You said, 'Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice FROM THE MIDST OF THE FIRE; we have seen today that God speaks with man, yet he lives." Emphasis added. Therefore by what you linked together, He must ALWAYS speak FROM THE MIDST OF THE FIRE. How did He speak to Abraham in Genesis 18? I could go on, but I do not need to - I have proven your eiegesis to be incorrect. S |
Bible Answer: Searcher - There is a recently released video that identifies the real Mt Sinai in Saudia Arabia. The authors filmed the area and found compelling evidence that is supported by Scripture to identify it as such. Did you know that the top of Mt Sinai where God spoke to Moses is scorched to this day? Analysis of the blackened rocks reveals that they were subject to intense heat. So, it would seem to indicate that when God spoke to Moses, the people indeed saw "fire" on the mountain. Yet another consideration for "from the midst of the fire" might be from Eze 28:14,16. But then this is not the point of the discussion here . . . Where in God's Word does it say that He does not speak to us? John 16:13-14 tells us that God has given us His Holy Spirit; "He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you." Who are we to dictate how the Spirit of the Lord chooses to speak to us? God even speaks to animals - Jonah 2:10. BTW, I hope you don't have a donkey tethered out back! Searcher, just because God has not spoken to you in ways that He has spoken to others should not prompt you to question the validity of their experience. May we all come to say, "Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth." Blessings, mommapbs |
