Bible Note: Greetings Scott! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! I've been very busy! The quote is used in one possible explanation. I'm not sure I totally accept it, but it does make sense. My only problem with your position is that if this 1000 years/1 day principle is so well known, why is it only mentioned in two verses in the entire Bible? Further, you still haven't dealt with the fact that the verses are similies, not statements of fact. Peter doesn't say that a 1000 years is a day. He says that a 1000 years is LIKE a day with the Lord. I just don't see enough support for this view, nor the need. Concerning Gen. 2:4, 'beyom' is simply an idiom for 'when'. So, Gen. 2:4 isn't saying that all six days occurred in one day. I think that I take both a literal and a spiritual view as well. I just don't believe that literal means that Adam had to die on the day that he ate of the fruit. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
