Subject: Is 'once saved always saved correct? |
Bible Note: Mike: You wrote: "1) Men will NEVER agree concerning WORKS until they understand fully that Paul in Eph. 2:9 is speaking of the "works" of the old law of Moses" You mean that old law that says "No other gods before Me, no graven images, no murder, no adultery, no stealing, no false witness, no coveting," etc.? Yeah, God probably doesn't care about those at all anymore... You also wrote: "3) GOD'S PART IN MAN'S SALVATION PROCESS - Therefore, in order to save man, God had to design a faith "system" by which man could be reconciled back to God. He accomplished this "by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." (Rom. 3:24). The shedding of Christ's blood "satisfied" God's requirement for man's sin (Rom. 3:24-31; 5:8-10). God provided the means through which man might be "forgiven" of his sins and be "reconciled" back to God (Rom. 5:10). Grace, then, is "God's part" in the reconcilation process (Eph. 2:8).' God's PART? Salvation is 100 percent God's "part," and salvation comes not through a "system," but through the completed work of the only sinless man who ever lived. Salvation is not "part man's effort's, part God's grace." Nothing has been made clearer in Scripture than that. Your so-called "system" has the aroma of hell, Mike. There is no linguistic or textual reason to believe that the "works" of Ephesians 2 and Romans 4 are anything but man's futile attempts to earn salvation. Your system of salvation is no different from that of Islam, for that matter. Christ becomes a superfluous "extra" in your scheme. It is impossible to please God in the flesh (Romans 8:7-9). Man trying to earn heaven will always fail, because they woefully underestimate their own, pervasive unrighteousness. Only being in Christ produces good works in us that please God (Philippians 2:12-14) Of course, you will probably dodge this argument like the others. It is a typical response of the unregenerate. --Joe! |
