Bible Note: Graceful To understand our salvation and what Jesus did upon the cross goes past our human imagination of His suffering. To really understand it you have to understand covenants (blood covenants in particular) and God's faithfulness in keeping His covenants. Jesus clearly said this is my blood poured out making a new covenant. That covenant was between perfect and perfect and will never be broken. His death paid the price, His blood sealed the promise, His suffering showed His love. The moment Jesus died Satan knew he was in trouble up to that point Satan was sure Jesus would be rescued or step down from the cross. Satan never expected the obedience or love Jesus showed by allowing Himself to be crucified and to die. Yes Jesus descended but it had nothing to do with our salvation, he was on a mission, there were captive souls in Abraham's bosom death held them there. They had be waiting His arrival to preach to them the Good News and lead them home. The rest of Hades (the hot dry side) saw Jesus enter triumphantly and victoriously free "captivity" from death's hold and take His home. EdB |
