Subject: Faith plus Baptism or Faith alone? |
Bible Note: Greetings Disciplerami! Are you going to respond to every single post on baptism, no matter how old? :-) The grammar involved is really quite simple. Singular verbs have singular subjects. Plural verbs have plural subjects. The two don't mix. The quote you have been using from Thayer actually backs up the point I have been making all along - that 'let each of you be baptized' is an appositional phrase. An appositional phrase is an interuption into the main thought, an aside, an additional comment. It is not part of the main thought. In fact, you can take out the appositional statement, and the sentence still makes sense. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
