Bible Question:
Tim: What's his name if we Baptize in the name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost The passage says NAME not NAMES their hast to be a reason for that statement, because it seems like the Apostles new what his NAME WAS IT WAS JESUS in every ihstance in the Book of Acts it was baptism in Jesus name. I feel it is very important now that we are at this time in PROPHECY and as we approach his soon coming, that we make our calling and election sure, and to work out my salvation, with fear and trembling. Bible Answer: Greetings Ezekiel! Long time - no see! :-) I agree with what Emmaus said in his post, but I would also add that the Greek makes perfect sense in several ways. 1) There is plenty of evidence that 'in the name of' has the basic meaning of 'in the authority of'. So, the number of names listed is not really an issue. 2) Secondly, the phrase does not require a plural 'names' anyway. The phrase says, "in the name of the Father, AND of the Son, AND of the Holy Spirit". So, the one 'name' covers all three titles. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
