Bible Note: My references are. Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah by Alfred Edersheim Published by Macdonald Publishing Company The Heart of Hebrew History by Hester published by Broadman Press The Works of Philo translated by Yonge and published by Hendrickson Publishers. The Works of Josephus translated by Whiston published by Hendrickson Publishers. Understanding the Times of Christ by Menzies published by Gospel Publishing House The New Manners and Customs of Bible Times by Gower published by Moody Press The Archaelogy of the Jerusalem Area by Mare published by Baker House The Full Life Study Bible Published by Zondervan The Stones Cry Out By Price published by Harvest House While all of the above may not directly address the issue, or be in total agreement with each other on every point. They all bring another portion of the truth to the table. Example in The Works of Josephus many places we see the results of grapes squeezed directly into a cup and drank called “wine.” Or “The life and Times of Jesus the Messiah’ describes the mixing of wine with water and the various additives placed in wine for preservation and taste. Stamps study in the Full Life Bible on 'Wine in the Old Testament' and 'Wine in New Testament Times' part 1 and 2 give a very good synopsis of points made in the other books. I also bring to the table many years involvement in the actual production of wine before I found the truth. Praise the name of Jesus!!!! EdB |
