Bible Note: Raven, Mommapbs wanted me to respond to your former post; I declined, giving you the opportunity to expand and elaborate on your position. Now that you have done so, I am now in the position to say that I do not subscribe at all to the doctrinal view that the waters of baptism have any power at all to regenerate a penitent believer. The water of baptism is not the blood of Christ. The blood of Christ is the blood of Christ, and it is it that our Lord shed for our redemption. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Nothing less and nothing more. I am keenly aware of your view; I grew up in a church that held it; but emphatically I do not believe the corpus of Scripture supports it at all. Having said that, and not wishing to burden you or the forum with more and more words on the subject, a subject that has been discussed many times and at considerable length on the forum, I invite you to use the Search feature and enter "baptism" if you care to read more of what I, along with many others, have already posted on this topic. It distresses me that I must voice so strong an objection to your third post on the forum; nevertheless, I do so without personal bias toward you and take this time to bid you welcome. --Hank |
