Subject: What is 'the fruit of the vine'? |
Bible Note: 1-2 percent, huh? So people getting drunk off wine were drinking, what, three gallons in one sitting? Pretty unlikely...quite silly, as a matter of fact. My points are not founded in error, and you have ignored the clear Scriptural support I gave against the prohibition of wine. You wrote: "As far as people waiting in the wings waiting for a go ahead to use alcohol. Surely you have dealt with an alcoholic, one married to a Christian. Yes if that alcoholic stumbled upon this thread you can be sure they would use it in their defense against their Christian spouse. If you doubt that then you are very naïve." Well, I am not naive, especially not naive enough to not notice how you keep on switching your arguments. You implied before that a church's extrabiblical prohibition on alcohol would prevent someone from drinking who really wanted to do so, and I disagree that that is the case for most people. Now you are arguing that an alcoholic married to a Christian might twist Scriptural truth to justify his sin (which is drunkenness, not drinking). Big shock! People misuse the Bible! That doesn't mean that the Bible itself teaches what you are putting forward as "truth" on this forum. I don't even remember the last time alcohol touched my lips, but I do hate Pharisaic legalism. And I do hate the fact that people speak out against what Christ Himself consecrated because of their extra-biblical "house rules." --Joe! |
