Bible Note: There are two questions for the futurists that to my knowledge have gone unanswered so I'll ask them again. Matt. 24:15"So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand)..." Did Jesus, in effect, unseal the previously sealed book of Daniel when he spoke these words to the disciples? If he did, they were living in the time of the end as prophesied by Daniel. And, would you consider Matt. 24:32-34 and James 5:7-9 parallel passages? James, writing twenty to thirty years after the Olivet Discourse, appears confident that the coming of the Lord was near. Matt. 24:32 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when YOU see all these things, YOU know that he IS NEAR, AT THE DOOR. 34 Truly, I say to YOU, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (Emphasis mine) James 5:7 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 YOU also, be patient. Establish YOUR hearts, for the coming of the Lord IS NEAR. 9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that YOU may not be judged; behold, the Judge IS STANDING AT THE DOOR.
