Bible Note: jonp, Can you provide Scripture that describes the Day of Pentecost as the coming of the Lord? I've always thought it was the coming of the Holy Spirit. The same Comforter that Jesus said He would send. I don't see this as a coming of Christ. In fact I haven't found Scriptural support for more than two "comings". Heb. 9:28 Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. It's interesting that you appeal to Luke 21 to support two separate "comings" of Christ. One in judgement on Jerusalem and one in power and great glory to further fulfill prophecy. Luke 21:22 for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written. Since we are to take "all Scriptures into account" what do you think the phrase "all that is written" is refering to? Scripture leads us to the conclusion that the coming of the Lord in judgement was also the second coming to which the NT refers. Coper |
