422 | growing up in a religion | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 162484
iccnh919, Greetings and welcome to the forum. In answer to your question, absolutly.I heard someone comment a number of years ago thatone can go no further than what they have been taught. There is a lot of truth to that statement. I grew up in a baptist church as a child and there were a lot of things I had to unlearn and learn over when nine years ago I understood that I really had not asked Jesus to be my savior. You are more than welcome to read my profile, that will explain more to you about where I've been. But the great thing God has given us in this day and time is his written Word along with a lot of men and women of God who teach it quite well and quite acurately. So change is always possible,we dont have to stay ignorant or uninformed. God has provide people with everything they need to be in or get into a right relationship with him. You are right it can be hard but not impossible. In Christ, lionheart |

424 | Reading too much into C S Lewis ? | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 164116
justme, Goodmorning.I've read a lot of C.S. Lewis and J.R Tolkien as well.I believe both were men of faith and that was evidenced in there writtings,I have found them inspiring and uplifting. We cant know first hand why they wrote these writtings. But we can and do know why God gave us his Word.2 Timothy 3:16,17 and that is why Matthew 6:33 must be a priority in our life every single day. 2 Timothy 2:15 is so foundational. His Word is bedrock, this is where we make our stand. The one question we need to ask ourselves is how deep do our convictions run? I hope this helps. In Christ, lionheart |

425 | what does it mean to be an angel of god? | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 164759
kisschloekiss, Greetings and welcome to the forum. The first question I would have for you is what scriptural basis did this person give in support of what they told you? Does it line up with Gods Word, what does the bible say about what this person was telling you? How do you know for sure that this prophetic word is from God? The bible Gods Word must be the basis for evrything we know and believe. (2 Timothy 2:15) Feelings are never any gaurantee for truth, The only standard for truth we have is God and His Word, without that there are no gaurantee's. If this person has offered no biblical basis I would ask,Check out 1 John 3:1,2 I think it will give you some food for thought. In Christ, lionheart |

427 | Is it wrong to have images of Jesus? | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 173459
Greetings, This has been a much discussed subject here on the forum. Type in the Word idolitry in the search box,You'll find allot of good biblical input on the subject. The one thing I would recomend to anyone doing a study of this subject will be to approach it with a 2 Timothy 2:15, 1 Peter 1:20,21 heart. It's a fine line between being hardline on God's Word and being religious, Having tht heart of Jesus or being a critical pharisee. I hope this helps. YBIC lionheart |

428 | Understanding being saved. | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 175003
speight, Our Salvation is a wonderous thing. When I think of my salvation and all that God has worked in my life these past 11 years Ephesians 3:20 always seems to come to mind.I dont believe one can lose one's salvation ,I dont believe the bible teaches that, but we can forsake God or walk away. Restoration is possible Galatians 6:1,2. May I recomend Hebrews and 1 John. They are rich in what our salvation and what it takes to have that relationship with God that we all need. Approach them with a 2 Timothy 2:15 heart. Also give 2 Peter 1:3-12 a look . I believe these scriptures will shed allot of light on things for you and answer questions. I hope this helps. Let us know what you come up with. In Christ, lionheart |

429 | Specifically what I am trying to convey | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 177959
Hood Rat, God does speak to us,but it will be within the boundries of Hos Word. Anything God wil show us will be in line with His Word. It will not go beyond what He has revealed to us in His Word. Thats why it is encumbent on each and every one of us to be workmen of Gods Word. Then we can know what comes from God and what doesnt. In Christ, lionhreart |

430 | GODS leading | 2 Tim 2:15 | lionheart | 188942
otahuti, Welcome to the forum. A good question. Two things for starters.First of all prayer and then making it a point to get into God's Word. I think one of the most important things for us as disciples of Jesus Christ is that when God is moving us in a certain direction is that God will not go outside the bounds of His Word, neither will He do anything contradictory to Word. God may open some doors while closing others. So by understanding some of these basic principles and practicing them we can know God's calling on our lives. In Him, lionheart |

julcol87, Don't let yourself get discouraged. Your head and heart are in the right place. Stay in the Word and prayer, fellowship with like minded believers and find a strong Word focused Christ centered fellowship. Your husband may be knowledgeable but that doesn't make him right. Look at 2Pt 1:20,21. God's Word has never been and never be about we think but it is and always been about about what He says. Stay strong and I'll be praying for you. In Him, lionheart |

haasdijk, Welcome to the forum. How about the scriptures themselves. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 2Peter 1:20,21. Ther can be no stronger claim than that of the scriptures themselves. There can be no stronger argument than that of the author (GOD) himself. No arguement we can present or bring can stand up to what God has brought us in His Word. In Christ, lionheart |

438 | denominational bias? | 2 Tim 3:16 | lionheart | 166316
chris4him, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Brad wasnt saying Jesus and baptism didnt make any sense. What he did say was that the statement didnt make any sense in relation to the subject line which was regarding the inspiration of the bible. When it comes to things such as the person of Jesus Christ and subjects like baptism the bible is quite clear. The questions we gotta ask ourselves is are we willing to be 2 Timothy 2:15 disciples of Jesus Christ? 2 Timothy 2:15 and 2 Peter 1:20,21 are these scriptures guiding principle when it comes to our study and understanding of God and His Word? Think about it. In Christ, lionheart |
