481 | What does the word "these" reference? | 2 Pet 1:4 | lionheart | 163329
Dearest sister, Good hearing from you. This is one of the first passages of scripture I studied after I was saved. Go back to verse three of this passage and read through to verse 12. This will give you some insite to what "these" references to. Peter is telling us to cultivate our relationship with God. Remember how Paul tells us in Philippians 2:12 to work out our salvation (with trembling and fear). Here in 2 Peter 1:3-12 is telling us how. I hope I'm pointing you in the right direction,if not, tell me. In Christ, lionheart |

482 | Why do we follow rules taught by men? | 2 Pet 1:20 | lionheart | 224347
findrichard, Welcome to the forum. First of all a couple of scriptures. 2 Iim 2:15 and 2 Pt 1:20,21. These are bedrock scriptures when it comes to how we handle God's Word. People take things out of context, twist scripture to make it say whatever they want to say and unfortunately this goes on everyday. As 2 Timothy says, we gotta accurately handle God's Word. In Him, lionheart |

483 | Need help with Forgiveness and Sins. | 1 John | lionheart | 168430
Dear believer, I would like to say this to you right up front,I am highly relatable to your situation and my heart goes out to you. I want to encourage you to get whatever help you need,God would have you do nothing less.My biggest advice to you at this time is to stay close to God and His people. Dont try and go this alone. Romans 8:1 -Therefore,there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. When Jesus Became Lord and Savior of your life all your sins were forgiven.Read Ephesians 2:8-10 It's Gods grace,This is what God has done for all of us. Take to heart Matthew 28:20 where Jesus tells us that he is with us always. We will be dealing with sin till Jesus comes back or He takes us home, whichever comes first. Check out 1 John 1:9. We can do this everyday. God is faithful, even when we arent. 1 John 3:1 this is what God thinks of you, dont let anyone talk you out of that. We are who God says we are.We have the greatest defense attorney of all time,Jesus Christ, and the bible tells us that he interceeds on our behalf. Read all of 1 John. Remember light dispels darkness. 484 | losing salvation | 1 John | lionheart | 225513
christbeliever7, First of all welcome to the forum we're glad to have you with us. We see throughout the Gospels Jn 3:16 for example where it says life everlasting or eternal life. Salvation isn't something that can be lost. People don't lose their salvation, you don't lose your salvation. People can and do turn their backs on God and walk away from Him. But there is good news. We can repent and God does forgive. When we refer to those who walk away oft time we are talking about those who choose to continue in their sin rather than repent. Take a good look at the Gospels, spend some time in Romans and 1John. I think this will give you a better understanding of what you have and it will help build your faith. In Him, lionheart |

486 | Are you saved if you speak in tongues. | 1 John | lionheart | 238017
Hello Purch, Glad to have you here. Doc made outstanding points in his answer to you. I want to add this though and I'm sure Doc will agree. If I've misunderstood your question please forgive me. Whether one speaks in tongues or not does not determine ones salvation. It's a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jn 3:16,Ro 10:9,10, Eph 2:8,9. The things Doc shared with you will evidence ones salvation. Jesus and His finished work on the cross is the key to it all. In Him, lionheart |

488 | Human Freedom and Free Will | 1 John 1:3 | lionheart | 218418
snookie, 1 Corinthians 6:12- All things are lawful for me,but not all things are profitable. All are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Life will involve a series of choices and God has granted us the the freedom and ability to choose. Part of God's sovereignty is that he will allow things to happen and oft times we gotta decide, but through all of God is always sovereign. In Him, lionheart |

490 | Heb.10:26 | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 193832
bream925, Welcome to the forum. You pose a valid question and I pose that with this question, Is there unwillful sin. Go back and read Hebrews 10:26 again and read the context in which it was written. We can repent and must. Often when we talk about willful sin as is in Hebrews 10:26 it can be within the context of one who chooses to stay in thier sin. John mentions in 1 John those who practice sin. We sin everyday. It is in repentance and striving to obey God and His Word and making him the primary focus of our life that we will live the life God has called us to. If a person choose to stay in thier sin they place themselves in jeopardy. In Him, lionheart |

491 | disconnect from friends and family | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 197604
nae-nae 04, What Mark 9:43-45 is showing here is what our attitude twards our sin should be. How do you deal with your sin? It's easy to place blame on others. But you gotta ask yourself where does it start? Look at James 1:15-13 Usually when we are talking about our sin and the things that may influence it, It starts with us. In Him, lionheart |
||||||
492 | Are we judged when we come to Jesus now? | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 201993
LJ777, Read I John 1:9 and John 8:31,32 I think they will help you. I don't know about being judged when we go to God but there are consequences when we do sin but God does and will forgive us. It's a matter of us going to God with repentant hearts. Take a look at Isaiah 59:1,2 and then look at Hebrews 12:5-13 where it refers to Gods discipline in our life I think this will help you. In Him, lionheart |

496 | eternity | 1 John 3:1 | lionheart | 230512
Alana, One thing that will help is knowing why God created man in the first place. We gotta understand that God doesn't do things without reason or purpose. God has always wanted a family, kids,(all who confess Jesus as Lord and Savior). Yes he does know who will believe and who won't. But there's nothing rude involved with what God does. Everyone will have opportunity to accept God's free gift of salvation. No one has to lose out. That's why we see the word whosoever used so much throughout the Gospels. Our Lord and Savior wouldn't have it any other way. In Him, lionheart |

497 | What's Needful Is Also Lawful! Rom 3:28 | 1 John 3:9 | lionheart | 217908
humility, This individuals reasoning has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. This person is walking in dangerous territory. We cant justify choosing to continue in sin and we sure cant use scripture to excuse sin. Jesus didn't break the law he fulfilled it. The good news is we can repent and God does forgive. 1 John 1:9. Where this person says they know they're right with God.Ask for rightly divided scripture. We can't use scripture to justify our sin. It doesn't work and never will. In Him, lionheart |

498 | Need Scriptures on God's Love | 1 John 4:1 | lionheart | 144823

499 | how do you test the spirit | 1 John 4:1 | lionheart | 196802
paulr, We will have allot of things thrown our way in this life and many of em are gonna look good. But! It doesn't mean we jump in and try them out. What John refers to in 1 John 4:1 it does tell us to see where all this fits in according to Gods Word. Then we will know if what we confront is from God or not. May I also refer you to 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16,17 and 2 Peter 1:20,21. These will give you a clearer picture of how to approach this. In Him, lionheart |

500 | What is the AKJV? | 1 John 5:7 | lionheart | 152910
Greetings cloud, AKJV-Authorized King James Version. 2 Timothy 3:15 tells us that all scripture is God inspired.(God breathed AKJV). 2 Peter 1:20,21 tells us that God is the Author.Hebrews 1:3,Titus 2:13 pretty much disproves any denial of the diety of Jesus Christ. I would place no credence to anything that so obviously contradicts the Bible. You cannot accept Jesus and not acknowledge his divinity. Therefore no Jesus no salvation. In Christ, lionheart |
