341 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Rom 15:4 | lionheart | 196246
melissanakley, Welcome to the forum. Romans 15:4 when referring to to scriptures such as the ones in Leviticus it becomes very important that we today as disciples of Jesus Christ to carefully consider to when and to whom they were addressed at the time. If we don't we get ourselves tied up in needless legalism and controversy. In Him, lionheart |

342 | Doesn't exist anymore - Scriptures? | 1 Corinthians | lionheart | 170175
JeffBradt, Goodmorning brother and welcome to the forum. This is a great place to learn and share faith,it has been of immence value to my faith and walk with God. I pray that it will be for you also. A quick response to Martha's post that you were replying to, Tongues was never uninteligable babble, look at the first line of 1 Corinthians 13:1. This has been a much discussed issue in the christian community for many years. What many forget is that when these things were taking place much of the Gospels and the New Testament had yet to be penned. So tongues and the other manifestations were Gods evidence to other believers and those hearing the Apostles message that what was being preached was from God. 1 Corinthians 13:9-13 will shed some light on this subject. This passage bares carefull study and consideration and I believe if we can approach things with a 2 Timothy 2:15,2 Peter 1:20,21 heart we can and will view subjects like this and others much more clearly. 343 | gifts of Spirit in Heaven | 1 Corinthians | lionheart | 203888
new librarian, God bless your heart and welcome to the forum. It's always good to have another veteran in the faith among us. July 21st will be fourteen years for me. God has blessed me with almost four years here on the forum. It's a good place to be. As for your question spend some time going through 1 Corinthians 12, 13 and 14. Paul takes allot of focus regarding the gifts of Spirit. Paul does a good job on the whys and wherefores of this. As this isn't my strongest area of knowledge I'll just say this. The gifts were given for our time here. Paul does say that at some point in time they will cease. There has been allot of disagreement in the Christian community over this. My impression is that when we get to heaven we're not going to be encumbered by the things that trip us up now and we will have the answer to all our question. It's gonna be great. 344 | God and His creation | 1 Cor 7:1 | lionheart | 172958
Corin, God's Word never changes,it's the same today as it was the day it was given by God.It is not encumbant on God or His Word to change just because the values and morals change. It is encumbent on people to change according to God's Word. It might seem a little sour at first, but as people change there heart twards God it wont. 2 Timothy 2:15 comes in real handy here. In Christ, lionheart |

345 | Dear Living God! This is for you! | 1 Cor 7:1 | lionheart | 173209
corin, Godblees you dear sister. It's great being a young disciple, the zeal, the hunger one has for God during that time. It's priceless. Dont ever allow that fire to go out.Sometimes I think old codgers like myself who've been the faith for some time forget sometimes what it was like. There are times we all need to be reminded of what God brought each of us out and that youthful exuberence we had when we were saved. Dear heart niether you or I can interfere in Gods business, no matter how we may try at times. He's gonna get it done no matter what. Isaiah 55:11. Checkout Hebrews 4:16, you can do this!Philppians 4:13 In Christ, lionheart |

347 | 1 Corinthians 7:17 to 28 | 1 Cor 7:19 | lionheart | 177597
Greetings dear sister, I believe what Paul addresses in this portion of scripture is that the important thing is not how we define ourselves religiously, but are we in obedience to God and His Word. 1Corinthians 7:23,24 It cost God something to redeem us, we need to ask ourselves have we remained true to Gods call on our life? Are we content with where God has presently placed each of us.Acts 17:26 God has determined the times and places. Are we surrendered to that? Hope this helps. YBIC, lionheart |

348 | 1 Timothy 6:3 | 1 Cor 9:19 | lionheart | 218273
strs5, Forgive me for not getting back to you sooner.I wanted to do some checking up on some of the material you refered to. You got some pretty good advice from Doc and the others. What ever decisions you make, make em on a solid scriptural foundation. (2 Tim 2:15) Go through Galatians and Jude I think they will give you Godly perspective on this. We deal with same issues today that were being dealt with in Pauls time. Stand strong my friend. In Him, lionheart |

349 | is masterbation bad | 1 Cor 10:13 | lionheart | 141909
1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man;and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of ecape also, that you may be able to endure it.It took a lot of courage to do what you just did. When one gets open about where they are at God can begin to work. God will provide a way out for you. 1Jn 1:9 God is faithful he will forgive you. Ja 5:16 Being open about our sin is vital. You've taken a big step. Draw on Gods strength. Phil 4:13 He is your strength, never forget it. Get in there with your pastor or someone you know who you can confide in who's close to God. Spend lots of time in prayer.Allow God to work in your heart and you will have victory over this. You will be in my prayers. Your brother in Christ, lionheart |

350 | Will God put on us more than we can bear | 1 Cor 10:13 | lionheart | 193184
ashelton, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Look at 1 Corinthians 10:13. Look at it closely. It says no temptation has overtaken you. Why do we assume God is the one bringing the temptation. James 1:13 tells us God cannot be tempted by evil and that God doesnt tempt anyone. We will face all kinds of challenges and pressures in this life. 2 Timothy 3:12 tells us there will be persecution. If one is going to live for God this is just one of things we are gonna face. Philippians 4:13 We can do all things through Christ. Hebrews 12:5-11 God will allow things in our life, good or bad. But he will use them to mold and direct our character. As you encounter life's everyday challenges and obsticals always keep Ephesians 3:20 in mind. In Him, lionheart |

351 | The significance of Communion | 1 Cor 10:14 | lionheart | 225440
Ed, In relation to Acts 15:29 it's important to note that animal sacrifice was practiced my many of the pagan religions of that day. I don't know if that has application today. But your reference to taking communion with unconfessed and I will say unresolved sin as well as an unworthy manner which can mean as you say in an ignorant manner is right on. I might say though that I don't know that any of us will fully understand the full significance of all this until we stand before God. I think there are times though when we take communion when we come to God with a blase attitude or where are hearts are simply not there then we definitely have a problem. In Him, lionheart |

352 | am i doing the right thing | 1 Cor 10:23 | lionheart | 202263
itsall4him, Welcome to the forum. The first thing I want to encourage you to do. Look at Matthew chapter six. Look at the focus of this passage and look at 1 Corinthians 10:23,24. Now my question for you is this, Is this all about you or is it about God, Is God your primary focus in all this? Look at Hebrews 4:12,13. Look at things in light of these scriptures. Where is your heart. God can appose us or allow things to happen when He is not first in what we do. Take this all into consideration. It could be that God wants you going in a different direction. In Him, lionheart |

353 | Christian freedom | 1 Cor 10:25 | lionheart | 188115
NightJay, Greetings brother.Read 1 Corinthians 10:25 in context vs 25-31. It's not so much about the eating of meat or where it came from, but how ones faith is affected ours and others. Three key words used in this passage of scripture, for conscience sake will help in hopefully making this a little clearer for you. Also go over Romans chapter 14. In Him, lionheart |

354 | What does the Bible say about marijuana? | 1 Cor 10:31 | lionheart | 156714
Brother brother, Galatians 5:19,20 the Greek word pharmekia is used in reference to witchcraft, the greek word also infers the usage of drugs in the practice of witch craft. Pharmekia is where we derive the word pharmecy today. In Gal 5:19,20,21 Paul says that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom. Now with that in mind I'll share this. I'm a recovering alcaholic/addict myself with almost sixteen years clean and sober at the present. I know when I was using I definitly was not close to God. If anything I was leaving myself open to some really nasty stuff.Using any kind of illicit drug will only get you used.I know this one thing today,I dont need any artificial stimulation to have the Holy Spirit working in my life. 355 | Is is a sin for a male to have long hair | 1 Cor 11:14 | lionheart | 161328
fellowlaborer, I wont be crude as I dont have any hair to get long.I went through the hole thing of having my hair long when I was younger. I think what Paul may have been dealing with here (this isnt etched in stone mind you) was that some of the things that would distinguish a man from a woman aside from the obvious were becomming less and less distinguishable. I think what he may be saying here is that when things ie. hair, get to a point where a man looks more like a woman than he does a man then there is a problem. If we look at this verse within the context of which Paul wrote it we can see that Paul went into detail about the things regarding men and women. We both know God is not in the habit of contradicting himself. We need when it comes to things like this to be able to look at them within the light of Romans chapter 14 and exercise godly judgement. I will just say this,if you were to come across me on the beaten path someday and you had a hard time telling if I was a guy or not then there is some consideration to be had here. But lets go one step further, what do we consider long and when is long to long? So when it comes to matters that may or may not be disputable lets give heed to Romans 14. I hope this makes some sense. Your brother in Christ, lionheart |

356 | The Lord's supper | 1 Cor 11:26 | lionheart | 227264
Julia, 1 Cor 11:23-26 go to this passage of scripture. Paul lays it out quite well. There isn't a specific number of times we are instructed to take communion but in in vs 26 it does say as often as we do. Whether it be once a month, once a week or once a day. This passage of scripture tells us why we take communion. Read the account of the last supper. Jesus makes the why's and wherefores quite clear. Ask your husband to give you scripture to support that there is an exact day that we should take communion. People will tell you allot of things but if they cant support it with rightly divided scripture (2 Tim 2:15) then don't listen to em. God's Word doesn't lie. In Him, lionheart |

357 | some people say you must speak in tongue | 1 Cor 12:4 | lionheart | 143993
Dear sister there is no basis in scripture to support speaking in tongues as a requirement to make it to heaven. There is one requirement and one only and that is that Jesus must be Lord and Saviour of your life. Acts 2:38,Romans 10:9,10.Dearheart make it a point to do 2 Timothy 2:15 every day. God doesnt want any of us ignorant and the best way to do that is to pray and get into Gods Word every day, that way when you are confronted with things like this you can know for youself what is and whats not of God. Have faith, you can do this. lionheart |

358 | 1 cor 12:23. what does it mean to a teen | 1 Cor 12:23 | lionheart | 195218
mama grace, Welcome to the forum. I will assume that you are either a teen or the parent of a teen. I got a late start in life and didn't become a disciple of Jesus Christ until I was 43. One of the things that really helped me in the beginning and still does twelve years later is that God has called everyone of us to evangelize the world. We are all evangelists or if as Paul says Ambassadors for Christ. In Relation to Matthew 28:18-20 we all have a part in Gods plan to evangelize the world. The explanations Makarios and Jesusman have given you are excellent. God has placed each one of us wher he wants us. Part of the beauty of this is that God knew that one wouldn't be able to do it without the other. God never created any lone rangers. He knew that we would need each other to make it. So take heart my dear none of us is in this alone. In Him, lionheart |

359 | speaking in tounges | 1 Cor 12:30 | lionheart | 215172

360 | Show Respect to Almighty God | 1 Cor 13:1 | lionheart | 142033
Dear sister, I hear you loud and clear. We need to keep each other sharp, I can agree with you on that. But we gotta have a 1 Cor 13 heart and show our brothers and sisters a little mercy and compassion. God only knows he's shown me more than I deserve. My spelling at oft times can leave much to be desired. I'm learning. Jesus called the pharisee's out because they had ignored the important things. They were being religious and not acting out of a heart for God. Do we call each other higher? Absolutely.Look at the heart behind things though. When we dont we miss the whole ball of wax. God wants to bless us,but we need to ensure that our hearts are where they aught to be. Your brother in Christ, lionheart |
