461 | do you have any verses on going 2 church | Heb 10:25 | lionheart | 187074
sarahcitychurh, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Hebrews 10:25 is a good starting point, but you might do better doing a study on fellowship and our relationship as christians. I think when we can get these two things on straight it will be a whole lot simpler to show our kids the importance of being in a good solid scripturaly and spiritually grounded fellowship of believers. 123/ghj, Prayer is vitally important in the life of all believers individually and collectively. The bible clearly teaches the importance of fellowship. (Hebrews 10:23-25) That includes worship and anyother times we may get together. If we are not praying together and for eachother we will be weak and not nearly as effective as we could be. Bro Evans, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Hebrews 12:2 tells us refers to Jesus as as the author and perfector of faith. When we start dealing with religion we tend to get into it from a worldly perspective. Look at the following scriptures they will give you a clearer picture than I can. Acts 5:21, 8:10, 17:22, 25:19, 26:5. 1Tim 5:4 Heb 10:11 James 1:26,27 In Him, lionheart |

467 | Discipline vs. torment | Heb 12:7 | lionheart | 197575
LJ777, Read through Hebrew 12:1-13. As a matter of fact go through and read the entire chapter. God will brin, use or allow alott of things to draw us closer to him, to mold our character and even bring us back when we are not walking in fellowship with him. When we are not dealing with our sin we can be leaving ourselfs open to some pretty nasty stuff. Even with this stuff God will use to get our attention. 2 Timothy 3 tells us that as we strive to be gogly men and women of God we'll deal with persecution. This too God will us for our benifit and His glory. Take Romans 8:28 to heart. God works all things to the good. Just keep loving him and the people he puts in your life! In Him. lionheart |

468 | long term mixture of faith and unbelief? | James 1:15 | lionheart | 166071
susiepanda, Welcvome to the forum. First of all I will recomend that you go back and read Gen 15-18, these chapters will give you good perspective on the hearts of Abraham and Sarah. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith and undbelief dont coexist together, what I'm trying to say is that we we cant have faith with a little unbelief mixed in,because then it's not faith anymore. We know what a little levin does to bread, with time it goes through the entire loaf,so ot is with faith and unbelief. But dont be discouraged either. We all deal with unbelief. Many times on a daily basis. But thanx be to God we dont have to stay there. We can repent,we can have strong discipling relationships, pray,Gods Word.We dont have to stay in a state of unbelief ever. Unbelief itself will never result in anything good.Granted God can take the worst of times and work the best,it's up to us to do our best with what He has given us. Phil 2:12 In Christ, lionheart |

469 | Do I need to leave the church? | James 1:26 | lionheart | 163511
Recamier, Greetings and welcome to the forum, boy oh boy there are so many issues raised here I scarcely know where to begin.I kind of get the impression that you are a new christian or very young in the faith. I guess the one question I would have right now would be as already been recomended is that you are praying and have you voiced your concerns to the minister and those concerned? God never created any lone rangers where His church is concerned. Fellowship is vital,it's important to our spiritual health.Dont be afraid to speak up,just do it with a godly heart and perspective, and if there is no answer or change forthcomming then as has already been advised you should consider and act on finding a fellowship that teaches, honors and glorifies God and His Word.Trust God to show you where to go He will get you there. In Him, lionheart |

470 | What should I do? | James 1:26 | lionheart | 163565
Recamier 1 Corinthians 11:1- Follow my example,as I follow the example of Christ. You say God is telling you to wait, what scriptural basis do you have to support this. Remember God never directs any one to do anything that will contradict His Word. 2 Timothy 2:15,3:16,17. Ephesians 6:10-18.Read these scriptures, take them to heart, they will be life savers for you.In knowing Gods Word you will know Him and you can and will know his will.God is not the author of confusion.God wants things to be clear for us,He doesnt want us ignorant. When we view things in the light of Gods Word then we see much more clearly, understanding is much simpler.Confusion reigns when we try and figure things out by our own knowledge and censibilities. Dear heart God will never leave you to swing in the wind.In Matthew 28:20 tells us That Jesus is always with us.God will not abandon us.We gotta walk out in faith,God has given us all the tools we need to this. Read Hebrews chaptter 11 it will encourage you. There must be some change with your whole situation, it's in your best interest and the interest of God and his Word in your life.Do Matthew 6:33 and see what happens. You will and are in my thoughts and prayers.Trust God you will not be disappointed. In Christ, lionheart |

471 | What should I do? | James 1:26 | lionheart | 163693
Recamier, Goodmorning.I hope this day finds you encouraged and close to God. Proverbs 11:14-Where there is no guidance, the people fall, But in abunbance of counselors there is victory. You have recieved some very solid counsel from a mumber of people here on this forum,I want to encourage you take that counsel to heart. Godly counsel is not arbitrary. It is best heeded and acted upon. It doesnt look like you have the luxury of waiting much longer if at all to act on your situation. Read Proverbs 12:15 and ask yourself,Do I have a teachable heart? Trusting God is'nt necessarily going with the flow, oft times we will find ourselves cutting against the grain. Jesus did on many occations, but he never compromised on Gods Word. It's no different for us today. There will always be pressure for us to go along with the crowd. But as we make our stand with Him he will take us through every situation we encounter. Paul tells us in Romans 8:37 that we are more than coquerors through Him that loved us.Dear heart you are never alone,Our Lord walks with you along with a whole community of believers who will walk and stand with you.The first step can be the hardest but God will enable you to do it. Philippians 4:13-I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. I'm in your corner and I'll be praying for you. Again trust God you will not be disappointed. In Christ, lionheart |

472 | Will the real Christian please stand up? | James 1:27 | lionheart | 161230
fellowlaborer, You make a good point.I think that even as christians we many times take a worldly view of religion. What the secular world calls religion God calls idolitry. If we take religion within the context of James 1:27 we can see that religion as stated within this verse is the result of a living vital relationship with Jesus Christ. It's our priority and responsibilty to keep God and his Word first in all aspects of our life. Matt 6:33. In Christ, lionheart |

473 | Isdenial of concept of religion legit? | James 1:27 | lionheart | 187337
hopalong, James 1:27 tells us how God views true religion. Now with that said when we start talking about religion on a secular plain then we are talking about mans effort to bridge the gap between himself and God. Where as true Christianity is about what God did to bridge the gap, His son Jesus Christ. Christianity is a life style not a religion. In Him, lionheart |

AndyM, Greetings and welcome to the forum. This has been a much discussed topic here on the forum. Read through the context of this passage James 2:14-26 you will find the greek word pistis used here, pistis is an action verb. Many times people will link faith and mental ascent. Mental ascent faith is not. What we do evidences our faith or lack of it, Philippians 2:12 will also add some persective to this subject also. In Christ, lionheart |

andyand, Greetings and welcome to the forum.
