1 | Is Limited Atonement Bibical? | NT general Archive 1 | John Reformed | 35967 | ||
Dear Zacht, You wrote: "I will say this". "People can support anything they want through scripture, and most do. To them they find support for whatever subject they choose. I have seen individuals give Bibical support for most everything". I don't believe you intended to point a finger at me, when you made this statement, however when taken in context, that is what is implied. Have you discovered the tendency to twist scripture in any of my posts? If you have, please show me where I have strayed into this heretical practice. Your post also implies (points 1-5) that perhaps I should look to the Holy Spirit instead of being hard headed about creeds and teachings of men. Worst of all: Do you really feel that I place the teaching of fallible men above God's infallible Word? Your Brother in Christ, John |

Dear brother John; My statements were not directed to you personally. I'm sorry if thats what you got out of that last reply. My previous statements were only intended to be an observation of discussions I have had with VARIOUS individuals in general. Before I became retired, there was such a vast array of beliefs among individuals in my last two work-places. And the people who held to their beliefs were sincere in what they believe. And I respect all peoples beliefs. I personally don't have the final say on what is true. My thoughts are still being shaped through reading the Bible. And while we don't agree on these non-essential topics we discuss, I certainly do respect your thoughts. The thing is however, as I have previously stated is: I know what scripture is used to support "limited atonement" I once believed with all my heart that "limited atonement was Bibical. But as I continued to study my Bible, verses and portions of scripture kept coming up which made me initially question that teaching and eventually doubt and disbelieve it altogether. But whatever I further say about this topic would be a repeat of what I have already stated in previous replies, I will end this reply. Also as I mentioned. I do very much enjoy our discussions. And would enjoy discussing my thoughts on any Bibical topic with you, and believe that you truly are my brother in the Lord. I know we agree an the essentials of our faith. Grace and peace zach† |
