1 | If you live right, you are rewarded? | 1 John 1:9 | Mommapbs | 134315
GB - Salvation is NOT a reward for "good works" or right living. Eph 2:8-9; Titus 3:5 Jesus will indeed "reward" - unbelievers will get the wage of sin - eternal separation from God and believers will be given the gift of eternal life because of what Christ HAS done for them ( Rom 5: 1,9-10; 2 Cor 5:21) and rewarded for what He has done through them (John 15:5; 1 Cor 3:9-15) - it's all about Jesus. HIS WORK alone is pleasing to God. "This is My Beloved Son in Whom I am well-pleased." When Christ works in and though us, God is well pleased too. Even when a believer is disobedient, Christ's finished WORK of redemption provides our righteousness; we may thwart His activity in our lives but HE is still at work IN us by the Holy Spirit who testifies of our "son ship" (Romans 8:16). By no means am I excusing sin in the life of a believer - it grieves God and SHOULD grieve us as well. Blessings, mommapbs |

2 | If you live right, you are rewarded? | 1 John 1:9 | Glory Bound | 134338
I have often thought of the term "double negative" concerning such. It seems it may apply here. Sin graves the Holy Spirit. Thus it cannot possibly please God when a believer is disobedient. I would think that the only thing pleasing about it would be the believer’s faithful dependency on His son for success against sin. GB |
