1 | Why before He died? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Morant61 | 83263
Greetings Graceful! May I ask a quick question about your view of Jesus' quote? If, by saying, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?", Jesus was referring to spiritual death in Hell, why does Jesus say this before He died? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

2 | Why before He died? | 2 Cor 5:21 | jbw | 83400
Ps 22:6 But I am a worm and not a man, A reproach of men and despised by the people. Ps 22:7 All who see me sneer at me; They separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying, Ps 22:14 I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. Ps 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And my tongue cleaves to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death. Ps 22:16 For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet. If you read the scriptures printed you will see that the Lord is not referencing a spiritual death. Everything written here is aboout the pain and agony he suffered and endure on the cross. Psalm 22 vs 16 says "Thye pierced my hands and my feet. Jesus knew He had to go to the cross but his mortal body had to bear the pain. Imagine somebody hammer railroad nails through your hands. I think one would say My God,why have you forsaken me. Then Isaiah 52 Is 52:14 Just as many were astonished at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man And His form more than the sons of men. Jesus actually looked like some freak up on the cross. No one recognized Him after the tortuous beating. That's why He cried out My God My God..... Last but not least the spirit is always willing to go but the fleah is weak. Mark 14:38 "Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." |
