1 | Jehovah is the only true God | 1 Cor 8:5 | Noveta | 130876
I am only responding to this thread because of the wonderful list of scriptures you have quoted. I think the only way to prevent Tara from posting is to NOT respond to her post. However, I will like to digress and study the scripture so that it feeds my soul. When I read these scriptures, that you have posted, I understand that Jehovah is the only God. It does say that the Devil is the god of this world. (2 Cor. 4: 4; Jn. 12: 31) But that is only because people have fallen prey to worshipping him. Like mentioning in the other posts many things are gods (money, people). They are gods because they are worshipped. They are gods because they or it has influenced people not to follow the only true God's commandments. In other words, instead of following God's commandments, they choose otherwise. If you want to know and follow the only true God ..then you must follow Jehovah..He can strenghten you. No other gods can make your stronger. Money will not make you stronger. The devil will not make you stronger. for he says: Is. 45:5 - "I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God...I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me," This my interpretation..Have I interpreted it correctly? |

2 | Jehovah is the only true God | 1 Cor 8:5 | Ray | 130903
Hi Noveta, You ask, "Have I interpreted it correctly?" I would say that interpretation is done in the choices of capitalization we make for the pronouns of Deity. I capitalize pronouns of Deity. When you predicate your quote of Isa 45:5 with "for he says", I wonder if you know and acknowledge the One who is speaking. for he says: "...Though you have not known (Me)" Isaiah 45:4. Isaiah 45:5, "I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from (Besides) Me there is no God... I will strengthen (gird or arm) you, though you have not acknowledged (known) Me;/ 6 That men may know from the rising to he setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am the (Lord), and there is no other." People need to know the Lord. Have I interpreted it correctly? From the heart, Ray |

4 | Jehovah is the only true God | 1 Cor 8:5 | Morant61 | 130911
Greetings Noveta! If I may interject, Ray is a dear brother and faithful contributer to this forum, who happens to have a 'thing' for capitalization. To him, 'God' and 'god', or 'He' and 'he' are two different things. Generally, I would agree with him. In English, it is customary to capitalize pronouns that deal with God. So, we would write: "God is my Savior. There is none but Him" - as opposed to: "God is my savior. There is none but him." Where I differ with Ray is that this is an English custom, not a Scripture practice. Neither Greek nor Hebrew followed this practice. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
