Greetings Tara! Your evading the question my friend! Jehovah doesn't use the term 'mighty God' in Isaiah. He simply uses the term 'elohim'. So, either Jehovah is correct when He says there are no other gods or He is not? Which is it? The only places where people or angels are called 'gods' is in poetic passages or in passages refering to false gods. Is a false god really a god? I could call my desk a god, but that doesn't make it true! :-) So, in a nut shell, here is my problem with your theology. You ignore a very clear statement of Jehovah. He says that there are no other gods besides Him. He doesn't say there are no other 'mighty gods'. He doesn't say there are no other 'almighty gods'. He simply says that there are no other 'elohim'. Yet, you claim that there are in fact other 'elohim'. So, you deny Jehovah's words. In fact, in Isaiah, Jehovah calls us to be His witnesses that there are no other 'elohim', yet JW's claim that there are other 'elohim'. So, they are false witnesses. Until you come to accept the truth of Jehovah's words, the truth about Jesus will always evade you my friend. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hello Tim, As you know, NIV translates elohim at Is. 9:6 "And he (Jesus) will be called ... Mighty God". Why are you telling me that that isn't true when you know that elohim is in English "Mighty God"? Your assertions to basic Bible truths are merely assertions. I'm not evading any question. I quoted for example 2 Cor. 4:4 where Jehovah calls Satan "the god of this system of things". So is Satan an evil god (mighty one) or not? Bible commentaries and lexicons alike say what I've been telling you, that there are other gods, that the words elohim and theos are used in the Bible again and again for angels and men. I'm not evading that. Tara |

Greetings Tara! Two quick points my friend! First of all, the NIV does not use the name 'Jesus' in Is. 9:6. Here is the text of the NIV at Is. 9:6: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Secondly, 'Mighty God' is a combination of two Hebrew words 'gibbowr' or 'mighty' (Strongs # 1368) and 'ale' or 'god' (Strongs # 410). Is. 45:21b says, "...And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me." The first word translated 'God' is 'elohim'. This is the part that you are evading. Jehovah says 'there are no other 'elohim', but you claim that there are other 'elohim'. Was Jehovah wrong? Was He lying? Or, are you wrong in claiming that there are other 'elohim'? I have never denied that people or things might be CALLED 'elohim', but they are not! Jehovah Himself affirms this truth. But, John 1:1 says that Jesus is God. Since there are no other 'elohim' according to Jehovah, then Jesus must be Jehovah. You can twist it anyway you want! You can ignore it. But, the simple truth is that Jesus cannot be 'a god' because Jehovah Himself said that there are no other gods but Him. I pray my friend that the Holy Spirit will reveal this truth to you. I also pray that you will be intellectually honest enough to address this point. I'm not asking if other people call something 'elohim'! I am asking if Jehovah was right when He said that there ARE NO OTHER ELOHIM besides HIM? You have tried to some me passages where someone or something else is called an 'elohim', but you have not yet dealt with Jehovah's plain simple statement. Was He wrong? Hi Tim. What is it that is said concerning the meat of the word, and "a time for everything"? Could "a time for everything" not include a time when one will be ready to learn a particular truth? GB |
