1 | Isn't believing Christ for salvation suf | John 3:3 | Hank | 91101
Ken, Christian maturity is a product of following Christ, i.e., discipleship. "Religious head knowledge" as you put it is not discipleship and is not Christian maturity. The Pharisees had worlds of "religious head knowledge" and what did Jesus call them? Hypocrites! Generation of vipers! Blind guides! Perhaps in your assessment of what Christian maturity is, you are thinking of Christians who have lost their first love, who have become lazy, laid-back, apathetic shells of the vibrant disciples they once were. They haven't matured! They have simply withered on the vine. --Hank

Hank:-) This is a rather lengthy thread, and I am trying to follow it as best I can. I do have a question about your coment "They have simply withered on the vine." Is withered to mean that those who lost their first love, would not be in a saved by grace situation, or they those who never fully were a genuine born again believer? Thank you for helping me understand. Blessings. justme |

Justme, hello! The 'withering on the vine' description of believers who have allowed themselves to become lax and complacent wasn't meant to have any soteriological overtones :-). It's merely my observation that some sincere believers can and do, on occasion, lose some of the zest and gusto for their Christian walk that they once knew. As people grow older and the arthritic pains rise and the energy levels fall, it takes more effort and calls for more resolve sometimes to attend worship regularly or to witness to someone about Christ. I'm 68 and speak from experience! But that's all I meant. I wasn't attempting to address more serious stuff like apostasy or to question whether believers who have allowed themselves to lapse into the rut of apathy were ever truly regenerated in the first place. That's much too weighty baggage for me and I dare not presume myself capable of lifting it! Blessings to you too, justme, and I do hope you are coping well with your physcial problems. You're in my prayers still. --Hank

We put 9,000 miles driving to and from the hospital, and now the resulys will make iy's self known in 90 days. Thank you for your prayers. justme |
