1 | Part 3 | Matt 8:5 | EdB | 94439 | ||
Graceful You quoted "All of these descriptions are spoken of our Lord while His soul was still in Hades. Therefore it is not necessary to say that only in Gehenna one suffers torment and punishment for sin. The Bible teaches us that Hades and Gehenna are places that have torments awaiting the unrighteous one that would enter into its gates. The evidence that some scholars use to make a case against the possibility of Jesus having suffered in hell is not sufficient in light of what we have seen thus far." First Hades is not place of punishment since Judgement has not yet occurred. We also know the Lake of fire is the place that sinners will go to be punished. One side of Hades is a place that is described as hot and dry. The other side is called paradise or Abraham's bosom. Jesus told the thief today you will be with me in paradise, Abraham's bosom. Eph 4:8 says Jesus lead captive captivity and that could only be talking about the souls in Abraham's bosom. No where in any of these quotes do they say Hades is Satan's domain or that He resides there or even that he went there to torture Jesus. Nothing quoted here offers any proof that Jesus was tormented in Hades only that he went there. Since there is two sides and considering what Jesus said on the cross to the thief and what we know he did it makes far more sense to believe Jesus went to Hades on Abraham's bosom side than into the hot dry place. In my opinion these post prove nothing. They state a lot of things but as far as proof they contain very little. Certainly nothing here proves Satan is master of Hades or that he tortured Jesus while Jesus was there. Or even that Satan has ever been in Hades. And isn’t that what we were discussing? Notice also this thread is now restricted. I suspect someone other than me got tired of your WOF rhetoric and complained. EdB |

"Notice also this thread is now restricted. I suspect someone other than me got tired of your WOF rhetoric and complained." I noticed..I alos noticed you refused to actually DISCUSS the points made in the apologetic. You and Darcy both simply said..my position stands. How can you win these poor souls caught up in the WOF cult if you cannot discuss BIBLICALLY what they believe from their point of view? You expect them to just say, "Oh, you disagree and you are 'orthodox' so I must be wrong". It is interesting that one can quote from the New World Translation..Jehovah's Witness 'Bible'. And any other cultish doctrine for discussion but the minute I posted a scriptural argument for BIBLICAL consideration...they restricted the thread...What are they AFFRAID OF? This IS a Bible study forum is it not? Then why can't we posts discussions of different topics? I know why, so don't bother to answer. It is the same reason why our denominations are so divided.. someone challenges their 'theology' and they RUN! This does not convince me I am wrong...as a matte of fact it tells me I hit too close to home! God bless |

Graceful I do not know the reason this thread was restricted. It may have been because of the tone or what was being said. I suggestted that it was because of you and that truthfully wasn't fair since I do not know that. As for me not discussing WOF teaching Biblically I will be happy to. Let us make a few conditions. We can not make assumations, or apply personnal interpretations even when we suggest it was reached by the Holy Spirit. On each point we have to reach a conclusion and when that conclusion is reached the one holding the opposing view has to concede that is now the correct and accepted view. If the Bible does not specifically state something and it can not logically be determined by implication we can not use it as a basis to make our point. Outside sources can be used only to further explain previous established truths that may shed light on the topic at hand. We will use as few bible verses as necessary to make our point and any quoted material will be held to a manageable amount. In other words if we can amaze each other with our brillance we won't overwhelm each other into submission. There can be no personal attacks implied or otherwise. I would suggest we do it his either on a restricted thread or you can contact me directly at Justaned@yahoo.com. I'm totally open to any suggestions you may want to see implemented, and I ask you to pick the subject we will start with. If you feel in any way this is unfair please let me know. EdB |
