1 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | EdB | 94184
Graceful Surely you didn't expect Copeland or anyone else to put something in their "what we beleive" that would tip the average person to the fact they don't keep orthodox Christian theology. In my opinion Copeland teaches another Jesus and Paul says that is a sign of false teacher. You do with it what you want but the fact remains his Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible. EdB |

2 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | gracefull | 94187
Hi Ed, "Surely you didn't expect Copeland or anyone else to put something in their "what we beleive" that would tip the average person to the fact they don't keep orthodox Christian theology." From my studies, I know what they believe. My question was to Darci an where she heard that one must believe the 'hell doctrine to be saved'? God bless |

3 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | EdB | 94193
Graceful What I was saying is false teachers give the appearance of truth but change just a little bit here and a little there. As you said Jesus died for our sins taking on our sins for us. Then you slipped in a little error you said, “He descended. He was also seperated from the FAther. He cried out "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" He was not merely quoting scripture when He said this. God had turned away because Jesus had taken the curse from mankind unto Himself.. Otherwise we would still all be lost.” Jesus decended in Hades which is translated hell and has mistakenly been connected with a place of punishment. Hades was the resting place for all the dead before Christ. It had two compartments one a hot dry place for those who lived unrighteous lives and another compartment known as Abraham's bosom or paradise. For Jesus to decend there would not separate him from God anymore than Abraham "God's friend" was while when he was in Hades. Jesus went there to preach the 'Good News' and lead captive captivity to heaven. Eph 4:8. Only the hot dry place is still occupied and will be until the Great White Throne Judgement. Why do you say God the Father turned away? This is not stated anywhere in scripture. Why do you say Jesus was separated from God? Again this is not stated anywhere in scripture. For God and Jesus to be separated would mean the Godhead is not one but two for how else do you separate one from itself. Secondly God looked at Satan the epitome of sin and did not turn away. God reached out to us when we were mired in sin so why would God have to turn from sin. This is old false teaching that has been repeated so long and so often it has become accepted as fact when in fact it is not. To be saved when Moses made the brazen snake you had to look upon it ( accept it, receive it, believe in it) just as we have to look upon Jesus on the cross for our salvation. Don't make more out of that than is there. We don't have to make Jesus' death more tragic than it is for salvation to occur. A lamb slaugthered was enough for the remission of sin once a year, Jesus became the lamb of God who died once for the atonement of our sins. We don't have to heap extra suffering, extra torment, extra anything - His death was sufficient. By adding a little here or placing meanings where they don't belong we soon invent another Jesus and this is where the problems begin. EdB |
