1 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | LionsDenSurvivor | 94085
Not all in this movement are so blindly accepting all of the teachings. I think that you base your perception of the WOF movement off of bad sources. In a nutshell, this is what I have learned in the WOF church that I attend (This is, of course, not a comprehensive listing of the teachings of WoF, but it is just a few of them as relates to this topic.).: 1. I have been recreated as a new creature in Christ and all of the old spiritual problems that I had are now gone and everything about my spirit has been made new. My spirit has been recreated in the image of Christ. I am dead to sin, spiritually, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (2 Cor 5:17 and Romans 6:11) 2. Because my spirit is new and made in the image of Christ, I press on in life to make my flesh line up with what my spirit has already become. (Phil 3:12-15) 3. Because I am a new creature in Christ, I have authority in the earthly and in the spiritual realms. I have power IN CHRIST, not of my own account. (Eph 1:20-23 and Eph 2:4-10) We are seated in heavenly places with Christ and we have been ordained to do good works on the earth by His authority. 4. Because I have authority in this life, I AM NOT A VICTIM!! I do not have to let the devil beat my brains out every single day! I am VICTORIOUS in Christ. (2 Cor 2:14) 5. One way to exercise my authority is by speaking in faith. This does not mean that the words themselves have any inherent power or that if you speak a certain way or by a certain formula you’ll get whatever you want. NO, that is DEAD wrong. SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD!! (Matt 6:33) That is what I have been taught! If you seek God, blessings will overtake you (Deut 28). If we do not desire HIM first and foremost and if we do not walk in HIS LOVE toward us and let that love flow through us toward others . . . we shall be as powerless as the heathens. It is not a doctrine of seeking wealth or health or whatever. It is a doctrine of seeking God FOR God. But it INFORMS you that you WILL be blessed. In the end it all comes down to motive. God knows your heart. If all you want is more money, then you know what . . . you’ll get money. Now, you may get what you want, but you may not want what you get. It is MY belief (not WoF teaching) that God will sometimes give us what we want just so that we can see how empty it is. Of course there will be those churches which blow it out of proportion and teach what is not biblical! That happens in denominational churches all the time but no one attacks them and calls them a cult and all the like. I know that I have had my eyes opened about SO much since joining my church. I know that GOD put me there, not some random bit of chance and circumstance. God speaks to me and tells me which teachings to accept and which to throw out. We are not about ONLY prosperity or ONLY healing or ONLY speaking in tongues or ONLY faith. This morning our pastor spoke on God being a god of MERCY. He spoke of how it is only by His MERCY that we have power and authority. It’s because of His MERCY that we are even alive. We do not exalt ourselves above the status that God has given us. We are sons and daughters of the Living God, yes indeed, but not by birth or by right . . . we have been granted that status by MERCY and we walk in that mercy by faith. I am fully content to live a live of poverty, sickness, and seeming defeat if it would further the kingdom of God. I say seeming defeat because there’s no such thing as being defeated and in the will of God. You may look defeated and even FEEL defeated, but God will ALWAYS cause a victory for you (2 Cor 2:14). I am happy at my church and the Holy Spirit has witnessed to me in numerous ways that HE put me here. Would God put me in a place that has false teachings? Certainly not. Would I be drawing ever closer to God if I was in a place that is cursed by God for having false teachings? (2 Peter 2) The answer is no. I will testify that, as far as MY church is concerned, the doctrines of WoF are biblical and powerful. They have saved my life and my Christianity. In Christ, LDS |

2 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | EdB | 94132
LDS I know WOF very well. I deal with people after their life has been shattered because God did not work according to the formulas that WOF teach. WOF places God and God's sovereignity at the mercy of faith exhibited by WOF and that is just not true. True we do have a victory in Christ Jesus but much of it isn't realized until we come into His presence. WOF interpret the many of the spiritual promises made by scripture as physical promises and they just don't hold true. Yes we can trust God and yes God will make everything work to our good but scripture also says we will be passed through the refinners fire and that is an aspect WOF doesn't want to talk about. There are times God heals and there are times God doesn't, what we have to learn is to trust God in both cases. If God did everything we insisted He do, would we be believing by faith or because we could manipulate God? There are times God blesses us with worldly treasure and there are times God wants us to learn to depend on Him for our next blessing. Satan's job is to kill steal and destroy, he is the accuser of the saints, he doesn't lose that job until Rev 12. Think about it if Satan can and does kill God's people in the tribulation what makes you think he can't kill us today? The faith we need is the trust in God to believe what ever situation we are in He will see us through and in the end all things will have worked to our good. This was Paul's message when he said in Philip. 4:11-12 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: [12] I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. Look at Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. It says we will find mercy and grace in time of need not always just the things that we desire. Many times God allows us to walk through things but He supplies the grace for us to do so and the mercy to insure we are not broken. You said your church saved your life! I praise God your life was spared, but was it the church or Jesus Christ that revealed himself to you? Don't confuse the work of the Holy Spirit with your church or your pastor. The church is to equip you to do the work of the Lord Eph. 4:11. Ministry that we receive had better come from the Holy Spirit or we may be receiving something of man rather than of God. The statement you made God wouldn't lead you to a false church is the exactly the same statement Mormons say. You then say you keep the good and throw out the bad. That should be a warning sign! We don't take Paul's teaching and keep the good and throw out the bad, we don't take John's or Peter's teaching and throw out the bad. If anyone is teaching you wrong get away from them no matter how wonderful they seem. A man or woman that speaks under the unction of the Holy Spirit does not teach bad teaching. Yes they may misquote, or mistakenly say something but it will be quickly corrected and never repeated. Think about what I said here. In love EdB |
