1 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | John Reformed | 93875
Dear LDS, No matter the needs, sickness, poverty, mental or emotional anguish, we are to take them before God the Father in prayer. Phil 4:6,7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. In the lives of His children, God has ordained times of trials and testings. These times can be excruciatingly difficult and may cause us to wonder at what is happening, and, why God is allowing such things to happen to us. In my experience, the answer does not usually come during, but after, the trial has past (sometimes months or years later). Perhaps the reason for a particular trial will be revealed only in Heaven or maybe never. It all depends on God's will and eternal purpose. Faith is the key to actually experiencing the peace" which surpasses all comprehension". If our faith is weak, we must pray that God will strenghthen what faith we do have. But what ,preciesly is "FAITH'? Is it really a "force" by which we obtain earthly and temporal blessings of health, wealth and happiness? I think not. Do not stop at Hebrews 11:1, but read the entire chapter!!! God Bless, John |

2 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | LionsDenSurvivor | 93894
This will be very brief as I am very busy with getting ready for my new semester and the like. The more you trust God and the more you believe God and His word, the more He is able to work in your life. If faith is believing and trusting God, then it really can be a force to move things in our life. In Hebrews 11, it DOES talk about the "heroes of faith", but I want you to note that it talks about how they did it BY faith. It's kinda like traveling. You go BY boat or BY car or BY plane. In the same way, their faith was what carried them into the blessings of God. LDS |

3 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | John Reformed | 93990
DearLionsdensurvivor, "Faith - Faith is in general the persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true (Phil. 1:27; 2 Thess. 2:13). Its primary idea is trust. A thing is true, and therefore worthy of trust. It admits of many degrees up to full assurance of faith, in accordance with the evidence on which it rests. --Faith is the result of teaching (Rom. 10:14-17). Knowledge is an essential element in all faith, and is sometimes spoken of as an equivalent to faith (John 10:38; 1 John 2:3). Yet the two are distinguished in this respect, that faith includes in it assent, which is an act of the will in addition to the act of the understanding. Assent to the truth is of the essence of faith, and the ultimate ground on which our assent to any revealed truth rests is the veracity of God. --Historical faith is the apprehension of and assent to certain statements which are regarded as mere facts of history (Easton's) Faith is definitely NOT a meta-physical force by which believers manipulate creation for their personal gain! Doctrines that deny this fact, have more in common with witch-craft and magic then they do christianity. The very idea that words are vessels that contain a faith-force is absurd as well as heretical. Flee from these falsehoods! Trust in Christ alone and not your own ability to conjure up positive confessions which purport to change things of themselves. What hog-wash! I suggest you learn from Scripture rather than Copeland, Hinn, and TBN. Hebrews 11 (the entire chapter!) would make a good beginning. I really mean you well my friend. It's just that I fear you have been led astray. John |
