1 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | LionsDenSurvivor | 93571
Here's Part II: Let’s look at scriptures relating to financial prosperity (all in NKJV): Galatians 3:16 - Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," (Genesis 12:7; 13:15; 24:7) who is Christ. What promises is Paul talking about? Well, let’s look back in Genesis and see what they are. Look in Genesis chapter 12. That’s a few of them. But since we are children of Abraham through Christ, we have all of the promises of God that the children of Israel had as descendants of Abraham. Let’s look in Deuteronomy 28: 1-14. All of those blessings have passed on to us, too. Proverbs 10:22 - “The blessing of the Lord makes us rich and adds no sorrow with it.” Deuteronomy 8:18 – It is the Lord who gives you power to get wealth. Romans 8:32 – He who spared not His OWN SON but delivered Him up for us all How shall He not WITH HIM (Jesus) FREELY give us ALL things? That’s pretty cut and dry. God will freely give us ALL things. Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for. NIV - Now faith is being sure of what we hope for NASB - Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for AMP - NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses] NLT - What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. CEV - Faith makes us sure of what we hope for BWE (Bible in Worldwide English) - If people believe God, then they know they have the things they hope to get. DARBY - Now faith is [the] substantiating of things hoped for One way that I’ve had the traditional KJV version of it explained to me is that faith literally produces the spiritual matter to create whatever you have faith for. Tell you what, read Matthew Henry’s commentary on Hebrews 11:1 . . . it’s a real eye opener. Moving on . . . A few scriptures on happiness (all in NKJV unless otherwise noted): Romans 14:17 – “17for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” If we’re heirs to this kingdom, then I’m sure we must be righteous, and full of peace and joy. Matthew 13:44 – “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Apparently, the kingdom of heaven, Jesus’ kingdom, brings joy. Matthew 25:21 – “His lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” We see this passage as a depiction of how God will someday reward us, right? Enter into the joy of your lord? Apparently, there’s joy to be found with the Lord. Luke 2:10 – “Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.” What were the good tidings of great joy? Why, Jesus the Christ, of course. John 16:24 – “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” You will receive that your joy may be full. I think that’s pretty self explanatory. Jesus wants our joy to be full and He wants us to ask in the authority (or the name) of Jesus for pretty much whatever we want. But if we don’t keep Him as the focus, then we get nothing. Just as God commanded the Israelites to have no other gods before Him, He has commanded us in Mark 12:30 to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. He goes on to say that this commandment, coupled with the command to “love your neighbor as yourself” fulfills all the law. Acts 13:52 – “And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit” Acts 20:24 – “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” Finish my race with JOY. Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Joy is a fruit of the spirit. I just have to believe God that it’s mine. I have to trust Him that His word is true. You don’t think faith grows? It’s grown in me and Paul says that believers are “living epistles”. I will testify to the power of faith and that it DOES grow. I only hope that you will read this and see that it is the will of God for you to be healthy, wealthy, and happy. I know that I haven’t covered faith that much, but I intend to do so in a later post. 2 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | John Reformed | 93609
Dear LDS, I have no doubt that you are sincere in your belief, but sincerity alone is of no value whatsoever. Rom 10:2" For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge." The Jews sincerely believed that righteousness could be gained by way of the Law. Their mis-placed sincerity in a false doctrine condemned them to eternal seperation from the only way to God; Faith in Jesus Christ and His substitutionary death on the cross on behalf of sinners. I am not saying that you or anyone else in WOF are lost. I am merely pointing out that bad doctrines make bad foundations on which to build a house. Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. We are His workmanship! That is where my understanding of Scripture begins and ends. We are not our own, we have been purchased by Christ. How does this fact harmonize with the man-centered teaching of WOF? Their teaching throws man back upon himself and his ability to develop for himself power to move mountains. This leads to despair and guilt: Why do I still have cancer (one may cry)? The answer from WOF is: "Because your faith is small. You must read the Bible more, pray more, fast longer, give more generously to the ministry. So, if you still have cancer it's your fault that you are a feeble saint." I know what I'm talking about, I've been where you are now. It is bondage of the worst kind. I have witnessed the same people heading for the altar Sunday after Sunday; month after month and year after year. It is so sad, and it makes me angry. What does the Bible say about sickness, poverty, depression, etc.? Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. That verse alone abounds in hope for all who recieve it in faith. What a magnificent promise! May God give us the grace to live by it. I do believe in Bible study, prayer, supporting the church, etc., but I see these things as means which God uses in the lives of His people to accomplish His purpose. Grace and Peace, John Reformed |

So then, tell me, in all honesty . . . what exactly do you see the Word of God telling us to do when we are sick or needing money or needing some sort of emotional healing? What do you see the Word saying is necessary to heal us in our souls when we are disappointed or when we get our hopes up and they are smashed into a million tiny pieces? Please, since you purport to know, tell me so that I can do that. I am not being facetious in the least. The teachers that I have sat under in the WoF church have given me keys to break the chains that bound me for so long. I have a clearer understanding of the Scripture than I have ever had before. I am no longer depressed or sick. My finances still lag behind, but they are coming around even now. If you can give me something that tops what I have been taught, something that will build up my faith and encourage me, something that will give me a fresh revelation of God and of who He is and of what He intends for us . . . then by all means, post those scriptures and I will gladly read them and abide by them.
