1 | Still not convinced preterism is false | Matt 16:28 | Coper44 | 183922 | ||
CDBJ, You began by writing "...it should be a very easy matter to point out who the man of sin was?" I don't know about you but I haven't run across ANY "very east matter(s)" when it comes to eschatology. I really don't have an opinion as to the identity of the man of sin. I know for sure it wasn't Napoleon, Hitler, JFK, Kissinger or Reagan. Seriously, I think 2 Thess. 2:5,6 are telling. "5Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time." The man of sin was relevant to them in their time and we may or may not discover who he was. 1 Thess. 4:15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. This does not seem unclear to me at all. Paul was simply saying "Those of us who are alive at His coming..." One thing that is precluded here is that Paul was saying ALL would die before the coming of the Lord as the futurist contends. This also lines up with our original passage: Matt. 16:28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. Please explain how you fit the 1 Thess. 4:15 passage into your system. Coper |

Greetings Coper, You are persistent in assuming that all the verses that have been presented to you are things that have happened in the past, which would be considered as “history”. My question, giving you the benefit of the doubt, was as follows. “Well if your synopsis is true then it should be a very easy matter to point out who the man of sin was”, since it would be of historical record. You answered me with the following. “I don't know about you but I haven't run across ANY "very east matter(s)" when it comes to eschatology.” Since it’s obvious that you don’t know the difference between “history” and “eschatology”, it looks to me like you’re in the process of chasing you’re proverbial tail, if you get my drift? The best, and “final, advice” that I can give you is to pick up a copy of the book, “The Sign”. ISBN 1-58134-232-2 That way we would at least be on the same page, as it were, or maybe we could even move on to another topic! 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
