Tuli, I agree in principle at least with your post. Faith and empirical proof don't always make good yokefellows. When we accept by faith that God is sovereign and that the Bible is his inerrant revealed word, we have no wiggle room left in which to question whether the Bible intrinsically makes sense. It does. If any part of it doesn't seem to make sense to us, we may be assured that we have a good deal of room left for growth. When one hears statements to the effect that the Bible makes little if any sense, the indictment clearly must go to him who, whether in ignorance or arrogance, says anything of the kind, not to the Bible. 'Tis a pity that so many who know so little insist on saying so much. --Hank

Hey Hank, I am a little curious as to what you mean by "in principle at least". By the way, I was of the impression that the majority of those involved in discussion on this forum consider the Bible the foundation of any discussion. Blind faith is blind to anything out of the scriptures! JAH BLESS. |

"Our faith grows, but starts without proof." was your statement, tuli, that prompted me to use the mild qualifier: "I agree in principle at least with your post." I have known a number of former skeptics who eventually made into the fold of regenerate believers who searched diligently for proof of the authenticity of Scripture and of the truth of Christianity and found it. The incarnation of Jesus Christ is a fact of history, not a myth that we are supposed to swallow with the aid of blind faith; he lived and walked the earth. The gospels certainly speak of Jesus as providing the people of his time with many positive proofs of who he was. Even the heavens declare the glory of God. So, yes we walk by faith, but our faith is a great deal more than blind faith. It takes more faith to be an atheist than a believer. Blind faith is indefensible; not so with the kind of faith that the Bible attests to. I think that is the kind of faith you are speaking of, and not blind faith. Our difference in view, if any at all, is too minute to be of any consequence! Blessings to you, tuli. --Hank
