Okay, now we are on the same page! The proof is on the Bible! We do not need to look anywhere else! That's exactly what my point was. We do not need any scientific proof, or argue our way in scripture. take it fro what it says even if it doesn't seem to make sense. John the Baptist believed there was a messiah, he may have had some questions, that's why he sent his disciples but he started by believing. Jesus at some point refused to give any signs and says the only sign was the one in the scriptures. Our faith grows, but starts without proof. Then as we grow, it makes more sense. Again, the proof or evidence comes after! Ex 3:12, the proof came after the fact, not before. And we can continue that way until we come to teh full knowledge. I hope that if you don't find proof for what you read in the Bible, you don't stop believing! Remember, Israel in the desert saw quite a bit, yet they were filled with unbelief! So much for proof! God says there is a way, I believe Him then I see it! I don't wait to see it to believe. The Lord Bless You. |

Tuli, I agree in principle at least with your post. Faith and empirical proof don't always make good yokefellows. When we accept by faith that God is sovereign and that the Bible is his inerrant revealed word, we have no wiggle room left in which to question whether the Bible intrinsically makes sense. It does. If any part of it doesn't seem to make sense to us, we may be assured that we have a good deal of room left for growth. When one hears statements to the effect that the Bible makes little if any sense, the indictment clearly must go to him who, whether in ignorance or arrogance, says anything of the kind, not to the Bible. 'Tis a pity that so many who know so little insist on saying so much. --Hank | ||||||

Hank: I agree with you completely. Blind faith has no part in Christianity. For by grace we are saved through faith. Through faith -- but faith in what? Faith in facts. Christianity is based on fact -- the biblical and historical FACT of Christ's resurrection. We don't have to assassinate our brains in order to become Christians. On the other hand, we would have to assassinate our brains before we could believe everything that is posted on this forum. Grace to you, kalos |
