1 | Are those He called always chosen? | Rom 8:30 | Morant61 | 14221 | ||
Greetings EdB! I have to humbly disagree with you my friend! If Joe and I were engaged in a mean spirited debate, I could see where there would be some harm. However, there hasn't been any of that between us. I consider Joe a brother in the Lord and respect his viewpoint. We both have been avoiding posting any of our discussion as questions, so that we don't clutter up the new question section with our discussion. So, I simply don't see any harm to it. Will either of us convince the other that he is wrong? Probably not! But, I know that I do my best to let Scripture inform my doctrine (and I assume that the same is true of Joe) so if someone could show me where I was wrong, I could change. I've said before that part of what I hope to accomplish in a debate is to present my case and through the interaction with others see if there are things I may have missed or not understood correctly. I also think there is a benefit for others to be able to see both sides present logically and politely. I would much rather discuss this issue than whom did Cain marry! :-) p.s. - I have to agree with Joe's reply to you. Anyone who is not interested in this thread can simply not read it. There are many threads that I don't follow, simply because I see nothing that interests me. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, your right this discussion is hundred times better than “who married Cain” or 50 or so other discussions that have been beaten to death on the forum. However to what end to continue? I believe both Calvin and Arminus were both men that felt as you if they could be shown the problem with their thinking they would change. However as history proves they nobody could. I think the men that have debated this subject over the years have been men that if like you could be shown the error of their ways would also change. Now we know the bible wasn’t written to be taken two ways so where is the problem. I believe it exist in definitions and semantics. I really thin the Calvinist and the Arminianist are really talking the same things just saying it differently and the subject is so inflammatory that neither slows down long enough to explore common ground. But as I said to Joe if you feel your adding value to the forum and not just using it for preaching your soapbox have at it. |
