1 | Speak from the midst of the fire to you? | Acts 9:4 | Searcher56 | 142211
mommapbs, I question others when they eiegesis Scripture. I know the Holy Spirit, that is God, speaks to us thru the Bible, as you said ... however, some try to say they have a word form the Lord or God speaks to them ... adding to the Bible. If they are not 100.000 percent correct, they need to shut their mouths forever (we should NEVER listen to them again) or be dealt with OT style. Alas, they still speak and people listen. Searcher |

Searcher - When God speaks to me or gives me a word for someone else, I am not adding to Scripture - what He reveals has always been edifying in some form. Most of the time, what God shows me is non-specific, yet I find that there is a message that is meant to be shared with others. It NEVER contradticts God's Word or His nature. Please read the following and then decide, should I "shut my mouth?" A couple of years ago, my cousin was ill and hospitalized. God said to me one night "Your cousin is broken." Which I understood to mean that she was not going to recover. She died. What did I do with the knowledge? I told my father, who was in the same town so that he could go and minister to her. Another time I had a very disturbing dream about one of my children. I was so distressed that I called a friend to come and pray with me about it. AS WE WERE PRAYING, God revealed the meaning of this dream and I had immediate peace. Both my friend and I were blessed and our faith strengthened through this. In fact, what He showed me has taken place in the life of this child and I rejoice in that! When I read His Word and something stands out to me I find that pondering it often leads to personal direction. The most difficult assignments are those that involve others as I do not want to go beyond what is written. I do not move ahead without confirmation from God, He has been so patient to honor even my doubts in this! At one point I was so bold as to tell God that I would not give a verse to a certain individual unless he asked me for it, and guess what happened . . . even though I tried to avoid this individual, he sought me out and said, "So what has the Lord been saying to you lately?" (Could I be anything but obedient to this?) I said, "Go get your Bible and I will tell you." So Searcher, these are just a few of the ways that God has spoken to me and BTW, you don't have to answer my question. Blessings, mommapbs |

3 | Speak from the midst of the fire to you? | Acts 9:4 | Searcher56 | 142225
mommapbs, I am praying for you, too. Should you be silent? I don't know. I have the gift of discernment ... which scares me sometimes and when I talk, some don't like it. What I discern are events of the past, even minutes ago. It is God speaking to me. If you speak - you need to trust the Lord that what you are saying is 100 percent true. I think sometimes you need to ask advice to speak or not. I think it could be harmful if you did, as in you cousin's case ... however, you are prepared when an event like that happens. Searcher |
