1 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | figgy | 93411
This is my first post on the forum. I usually just read through the various discussions choosing to be more of an observer than a partcipant. However, this particular post left me stunned due to the sheer harsh tone and intellectual dishonesty. You say "I know what the Word says". Do you know that the Word says Christ is not a means to our own end (i.e health, wealth, and happiness, etc) but IS the end?-- Phil 3:7-8. Praise God that you are currently experiencing health, wealth, and happiness in your life. However, these are not guarantees for those in Christ Jesus. Read Hebrews Chapter 11. These men of GREAT faith, more faith than any of us could ever imagine, suffered torture, poverty, prison, etc. These men are the examples for us! Their lives were clearly not reflections of wealth and health. We serve a God who loves us and blesses us as HE sees fit, not as we see fit. If I am sick, I will pray for a healing according to His will. If I am broke, I will pray for my needs to be met according to His will. He is faithful and my faith is renewed each time I see His provision in my life. Christ commands us in John 6:27 "do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life..." As believers, our focus should be on advancing the Kingdom of God at whatever cost to us - be it our finances, our health, and even our own lives. I am thankful each day for the food on my table, the roof over my head, and my excellent health. I attribute all of this to God's blessing and not because I attained it through conjuring up some amount of faith that prompts God to move in my life. That would certainly be a heavy burden to carry. Christ came to remove our burden, not add to it. |

2 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | gracefull | 93620
Hi figgy, Your post is correct. But the underlying message that WOF teaches Christians to manipulate the Word of God like a magicians wand is incorrect. Most of the responses to this teaching address it from the perspective that believers who subscribe to this teaching are all self seeking and expectant of God to give US what WE want in our selfish carnal nature desire. Let me point out that some in immaturity have attempted to USE faith as a means to achieving their own will. Immaturity and ignorance of scripture... WOF teaches ardently that faith worketh by love. Love described in 2 Corinthians 14 defines the God kind of love, and is not self seeking. God provides NOTHING for His children apart from His Word. And if His Word states it is ours under the New Covenant it is false humility and a slap in the face of God to reject what Jesus paid for. And also a hinderance to the work we are called to do if we 'humbly' do not believe for the provision to accomplish that work. It sounds arraogant to a poor understanding of true humility, but true humility wants all that Jesus bought and paid for in this life and the next. Why? Because when we walk in the fullness of all He has given we will walk in all the fullness of our calling, fulfilling our mission. Based on the assumption that someone believes the God is there to fulfill their desires, your post is correct. but based on the fact tha most desire to fulfill God's plan for their life and are believing for all the provision to accomplish that...your post is incorrect. You said.... Christ commands us in John 6:27 "do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life..." Jesus was saying do not expend your thoughts and energy striving for carnal possessions, that He would provide these for us. How does He provide them? Through faith...We receive nothing from God apart from faith. Faith WORKS but not the kind of labor Jesus was speaking of. Faith says, "Thank you Jesus. I will obey You expecting and believing and receiving by faith these provisions You have promised." Be careful to base your beliefs on scripture, not opinions of others or even actions of other Christians. They will ultimately always disappoint us. But God's Word will never FAIL! Read Deuteronomy 28. This is how God desires to treat His children. God bless |

Dear Gracefull, Thanks for your post. I have read it and re-read several times in an attempt to truly understand your representation of the WOF beliefs. There are a few points to address later. However, I really am striving to understand how it is that WOF teachers tell people that if they are not healed in some way (lets use physically as an example) than they must not have enough faith. Do you believe this to be true? It may sound like a simplistic question to your well articulated post but I must use this as a starting point in understanding what it is that WOF teaches if I am to examine my own assumptions. Thanks! --Figgy |

4 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | gracefull | 93770
Hello Figgy, We will have to talk tomorrow on this to get indepth. To begin with let me point out that Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. What does this verse say? Without faith we can receive nothing from God. To establish this principle first is critical to understanding WOF teaching. The second is 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: The reason I want to start here is because I am reasonably sure this would start us off, at least, in agreement. The short answer is faith is always necessary for healing. I do not, and neither does WOF teach that OUR faith exclusively is the way to healing. WOF is full gospel and believes in the operation of the gifts..gift of healings, etc. WOF AND I believe another's faith can produce healing. The flip side of the same coin, God expects His children to study the Word and allow our faith to be developed by the Holy Spirit and the Word. I realize the posts leaned in that direction because of the question asked concerning some taking offense at being told their faith should be developed. WOF is STRONG on personal relationship and maturing in God. Odviously WOF believes in laying on of hands for healing. They do so consistently. But at the same time they teach and encourage personal faith development. This aspect of WOF is to be admired. They are extremely discipling oriented. As far as a teacher or preacher telling someone they need to develop their faith..this could be a front for a lack of annointing, but it also could be a word from the Lord. We should not become offended at being told to do something God expects us to do. They very well could be hearing from the Holy Spirit. But if we take offense...this is never the response a Christian should have. If the minister is incorrect, God would have us pray for them, but first we need to allow the Holy Spirit to examine our own heart. God bless Purhaps we can talk more tomorrow, |

5 | A FALSE TEACHING? Yes / No | Matt 8:5 | EdB | 93774
Graceful You said, "What does this verse say? Without faith we can receive nothing from God. To establish this principle first is critical to understanding WOF teaching." Do we not receive life from God before we have faith? Do we not receive breath from God before we have faith. Was not the ten lepers healed without faith? Explain now Lazarus was exercising his faith before Jesus called him forth from the grave. How about the dead son of the widow, explain how his faith enabled Jesus to call him back from the dead? How about the man whose bones were thrown on top of the prophets Elisha’s and was immediately brought back to life. Were not the disciples saved from the raging sea even though they had not faith in fact they were asking Jesus if he cared if they died or not. Did not Moses see the burning bush before he had faith? Read 1 Kings 13 there is a story of a young prophet and an old prophet God wrought many things in both their lives and both were is disobedience and out of faith with God. God gives us many things without us exercising our faith, look around and see the wonders of God, it is everywhere given to both the faithful and faithless. As you said to establish this principle first is critical to understanding WOF teaching. Just as I have demonstrated this principle is untrue and since this is foundational to WOF teaching we can also know WOF teaching is in error. EdB |
