Subject: "Once Saved Always Saved" |
Bible Note: Brian, I've a question for you in regard to your statement that reads as follows: "The core belief of Catholicism has never changed one bit during the past 2,000 years." Now, in 1854 Pius IX declared the Immaculate Conception of Mary and at the Vatican Council of 1870, he declared the dogma of papal infallibility. My question is, why wouldn't these beliefs rise to the level of "core" beliefs? They seem "core" enough to my mind. And they certainly have been inculcated into Catholic belief and doctrine, haven't they? And, before I go, I'd like to ask a corollary question about the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. What scriptural support does the Catholic church cite in defense of this dogma? --Hank |
