Bible Note: Ok, now that Hank has enlightened me about which "war" they were having issues with - I shall respond! You and I seem to have read conflicting accounts of Hitler's life. Can you tell me what books you've read so I can check them out? I'm guessing you mean the Vatican because Rome is altogether different. Yes, the Vatican has had it's greedy, power hungry and outright EVIL popes. But you can't judge them all by those few. Our current pope is against having his ring kissed, but has been denied the pleasure of a simple hand shake. Someone mentioned earlier having heard a rumor that Pope John Paul was selling indulgences recently which is utterly untrue. What IS true is that he has granted indulgences (recently) for hospital and prison visits. I'm certain the vast majority here will have issues with that, as is their right! However, since indulgences supposedly to lessen ones time in pergatory - which most don't believe in - there's really no harm, eh? Just think of it as the carrot hung before the lazy mule. I think I'm also past due for pointing out that not all Catholics are Roman Catholics. The proper term being CCC, Catechism of the Catholic Church. Not RCC, Roman Catholic Catechism. Roman, Byzantine, Greek, (But not Greek Orthodox.) I believe 7 branches in all founded by apostles who set out to spread the word of God. Just about everyone responding here assumed that when I said Catholic, I meant Roman. No one ever asked. Be well, Lisa |
