Bible Note: Norrie, I'm not trying to convince you "my way" is better. Nothing of the sort. Just trying to cast a little light here. It's true. Prior to the Vatican II council, Catholics were urged to memorize catechism. Not biblical text. The clergy was worried that people, left to their own devices, would misinterpret its content. So they urged us to listen to them. Vatican II council was where they admitted that was entirely wrong. Brian is right, Though it was over 30 years ago, Vatican II is still growing and learning.
