Subject: Do you own a TNIV? |
Bible Note: Justme I find it interesting you have problems with the RSV and like the NIV. I’m just the opposite, I can get into the RSV but every time I read the NIV I get upset. I simply don't like how it handles the Holy Spirit. The NIV seems to downplay the Holy Spirit, in fact it seems to downplay many spiritual realities that other translations seem to highlight. Now the NRSV, TNIV and The Living Bible to me should not have been printed. I guess I’m a little like Hank I like the NKJV, NASB, ESV, and NLT. I use the NKJV for any teaching or preaching and many times in personal devotions, the NASB for study, the ESV for personal reading and NLT when someone has a problem understanding a passage. I would use the NASB for most everything if it wasn’t so hard for me to read from it aloud. The turn of the words tangles my tongue and I spend more time trying to get un-tongue tied than I do speaking. In the same light I would probably use the ESV more if wasn’t so new and more people had it. EdB |
