Subject: Do you own a TNIV? |
Bible Note: Hank: I could have made the list longer of versions that I personally think have serious flaws. For example NRSV, RSV, NEB, and several study Bibles made by some Bible Teachers that use a good Bible version. I was forced at Midwester Baptist Theological Seminary to use the RSV. I still look at my notes, but rarely, if ever read that Bible. I noticed you did not mention the NIV in your lists of responsible translations, was that for me to think it is not a responsible translation? I no of no other translation that has such a srtong commitment to the authority and infallibility of the Bible as the NIV. I ask this with respect, not meaning to stirr the pot. I thought I read sometime ago that you liked the New Living Bible. I looked at it but it simply is not what I was interested in. You mentioned reading ability, and the KJV,and the NKJV are at atleast an 11th grade reading level. What should we do for those who read at a 6th grade level, from which I have read is the avrage American non-college educated, persons reading level? I doubt I could encourage anyone to use the Good News Bible. I think you are very fortunate to have the command of the English language that you have. Your words flow like glass. There are few I know that have the ability you have been blessed with. Thank you for your imput. justme |
