Subject: Do you own a TNIV? |
Bible Note: Brad K, I'm wondering if you could please give me one verse from this translation. It is one verse that I turn to first whenever I see a Bible that I am unfamiliar with. The verse is, Hebrews 1:3 Here it is in the KJV, Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: And now, the NIV, The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Now, the NLT, The Son reflects God's own glory, and everything about him represents God exactly. He sustains the universe by the mighty power of his command. After he died to cleanse us from the stain of sin, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God of heaven. Amen. Praise God for His Living Word. The point I am trying to illustrate, never hearing before of a TNIV, is, how does this Bible translate the relation between Jesus and His Father, God? Can you see the discrepancy between two translations above, and the third one? I shall await your reply, thank you, and God Bless. tim |
