Bible Question:
Good Morning EdB! Thanks for responding... When you said 'the scripture God’s owes no man', I thought of Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. KJV He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done. NIV He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and that which he has given He will repay to him. Amp One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his good deed. NTL Can you point me to 'the scripture God’s owes no man'. Thanks again for taking the time to response. Abba Father bless you... |
Bible Answer: Mbooker I can’t find the scripture I was looking for basically it says God is a debtor to no man however the wording is different and I can not locate it. I have the wrong wording in my mind and I can’t clear it enough to think of the right wording, I’m sorry let me pray about it and perhaps the Holy spirit will reveal it to me. However these two scriptures convey the message. Job 41:11 "Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine. Acts 17:24-26 "The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; The scriptures you cite is addressing God rewarding righteousness rather than repaying righteousness. We are told that God is a rewarder and has given us promises that He will fulfill. But understand if we do anything with the wrong motive, like merely seeking reward, our heart’s are not pure before the Lord and God will not honor that. This was the problem with the Pharisees they kept the law not because it was the right thing to do, but rather to be able to say they were more holy than another. Or that God would owe them. Giving unto the Lord is the right thing to do, but not if your purpose is to get more back. If WoF preachers would teach giving to the Lord or their ministry was the right thing to do because it honored God and the money was spent helping others then there would not be a problem. They teach if you give God has to give back to you so give and you will get rich like we are. They say all the right things about how their ministry reaches out and such but the underlying message is give and your will get back. They claimed to have learned the secret that you can’t out give God. This is ture if you are giving to bless others. However if you listen to their pitch they are appealing to far more base desires, they are appealing to people’s greed. What in fact they have learned is how to manipulate people into making them rich. Giving to the Lord to bless others, to honor God, to help in the work of the ministry are all the right reasons for giving. God will reward that by pouring out blessings on you. However if you give to get the blessing your trying to buy it or put God in debt to you and that just won’t work. EdB EdB |
