Subject: cult by what definition? |
Bible Note: Teragram123 The things you experienced are indeed cultic, I will not deny that. However I will deny that all Catholic church teach that. My wife was born and raised Catholic and was very much saved within the church. her priest and the nuns that she had in school taught her about Jesus and faith in Him with Salvation by grace. Form her I know many find Christian Catholics. I was protestant and as you know to marry a protestant is a process. I was asked to speak to her priest, which we did and basically he wanted me to become Catholic but agreed we should follow God’s leading.. I then was asked to speak to another priest and he informed us, that unless I became Catholic my wife, myself and any children we might have were going to hell. That kind of put a hush to the wedding plans. We then went to the diocese Monsignor and his take was he wanted me to become Catholic but stated very clearly that both myself and my wife had a love for the Lord, that we were saved and that we should follow God’s leading. End result my wife and I married in the church I attended. Two of three priests I believe were very Christian and gave Christian advice one was very heretical. Do I call the catholic church a cult because of that one priest? Look I’m getting drawn into defending the Catholic church and that is not my purpose. As I repeatedly stated there are many things within the Catholic Church I totally and absolutely disagree with. I find their worship of Mary appalling but again within the bounds of the accepted definition of cultic the Catholic church does not fall. Will it some day? I believe if it continues on the course it is presently sailing it will be defined as a cult shortly. EdB |
