NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |
Subject: The 'Kosmos' in 1 John |
Bible Note: Greetings Lionstrong! In spite of 22 other examples in 1 John! So the other believers in the world: * Does not know Christ - 1 Jn. 3:1, * Hate the believers John was writting to - 1 Jn. 3:13, * Are overcome by the believers John was writting to - 1 John 5:4, and * Are controlled by the evil one - 1 John 5:19. That does not sound like a description of believers to me! But, you are entitled to your opinion! Thanks for your responses my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
