NASB | 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 2:2 And He [that same Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins [the atoning sacrifice that holds back the wrath of God that would otherwise be directed at us because of our sinful nature--our worldliness, our lifestyle]; and not for ours alone, but also for [the sins of all believers throughout] the whole world. |

Bible Note: Greetings Lionstrong! Thanks for the response my friend and brother in Christ. Believe me, I don't feel any animosity from you! Actually, I agree with your point. What I was trying to say with a short pithy saying was this. All of our sins are paid for. It is the rejection of God's gift that sends us to hell. So, I agree with you that it is not all sins except one which are paid for. Rather, I believe it is all sins are paid for, but the benefit of that sacrifice is approripated by faith. Failure to accept it leaves us lost. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
