NASB | 1 Corinthians 14:22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:22 Therefore, [unknown] tongues are [meant] for a [supernatural] sign, not to believers but to unbelievers [who might be receptive]; while prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people] is not for unbelievers but for believers. |
Subject: Have we been resisting the holy spirit? |
Bible Note: Greetings Leolipwee! Thanks! Yes, that helps me to understand! In theology, the term 'Person' is used to describe the members of the Godhead. Obviously, God is not like us in that He is not limited to the physical or material. So, the term 'Person' may be a little confusing. However, what the term is trying to convey is simply that each member of the Trinity is a thinking, feeling, relating Being, not simply a natural force. For instance, electricity is a force, but it does not feel, think, or relate. It simply is! The Holy Spirit is not simply a force. He is aware. He feels. He works. He comforts, ect.... This is what I was refering to in my previous post with the Scriptures I cited. I hope this helps my friend! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
