NASB | 1 Corinthians 14:22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:22 Therefore, [unknown] tongues are [meant] for a [supernatural] sign, not to believers but to unbelievers [who might be receptive]; while prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people] is not for unbelievers but for believers. |
Bible Question: How to know you are in the spirit while speaking in tongues? |
Bible Answer: i don't have bibilcal explanation for this but i have this theory - The Holy Spirit was given to us as a witness to the truths about GOD's matters. So for one to know whether or not you are in THE Holy Spirit while speaking in tongues, then test it. What are you speaking in tongues for? 1 Corinthians 14:22 states that tongues are used as a sign for unbelievers (that they might hear a foriegn tongue and yet still understand, Acts 1:6 to 1:11) and for believers (that they may hear revelations, knowledge, prophesies or teachings, 1 Corinthians 14:6) so if you speak in tongues and you are in front of unbelievers, do they understand? if you are in front of believers, do they have revelations, knowledge, prophesies or teachings? i don't know whether my answer have been helpful, but i pray that my young walk with JESUS helped you (ot others) somehow.
